Today commemorates the abolishment of slavery in 1865 and recognizes past, present and future work to secure and protect freedom, justice, equality and respect for all people. It is also the first day of Black History Month.

Pray for strength, humility and penitent hearts so we may acknowledge our nation’s history and the mistreatment of people based on ancestry,
race, religion and perceived differences.

Give thanks that our sins and weaknesses are met with God’s immense grace and the Spirit’s ability to effect change and newness in us, our church and society.

A Message from Pr. Mo...

Dearest Beloveds,

Happy New Year 2026! My prayer is that this message finds you healthy in mind, body, spirit, and community.

As a child, I marveled—and still do!—at the mystery that is The New Year. Everything feels fresh and bright! Meanwhile, all around us… whether it be social media, podcasts, tv talking heads, etc.… it seems the same… reflections about what “was” while speculating what “will be” without a focus on new creation.

I believe this turning of the wheel of time, this calendar event, transforms itself into a liminal space, which means it truly is a q***r space, an “in between” space. This moment of raw newness becomes one holding vast possibilities manifesting the liminality of it all… the q***rness of it all.

That is what makes this time full of hope, and my hope is that you will embrace it, my beloveds. Happy New Year and may it be a year full of possibilities for you!

Q***r Christmas Cabaret! It's happening y'all!!!

Check out all the fantastic and talented folx who you will see there! Led by the Emcee with the mostest, Ta'von Vinson, you will encounter the incomparable Sapphire Dupree, the alluring Stealya Manz, and the majestic Kayden Chloe! Music led by the soulful Paul Vasile with the melodic Mairin Srygley!

Refreshments (and hugs) provided by Free Mom Hugs of Maryland... grilled cheese, hot cocoa, cookies, fruit, and other holiday delights.

Skylight Boutique will be open with special hours for your shopping pleasure.

Regretfully this venue is accessible only by a flight of stairs. We wish it were otherwise. Efforts are underway to raise funds to install an elevator.

It was a truly uplifting experience during the joint worship service for Baltimore Blaq Pride!

We joyfully celebrated love and commitment alongside Blaq Equity Baltimore. The collaborative worship service with Blaq Equity Baltimore, Dreams & Visions, and friends at Good Trouble Church was a wonderful celebration of Baltimore Blaq Pride. We felt acknowledged and embraced. We arrived as we were and departed with a sense of renewal.

This week, Dreams & Visions and the The Skylight Boutique welcomed students from Flourish at the Center for Student Success at Loyola University Maryland as part of their new student orientation. Pastor Mo talked to the students about Dreams & Visions and about ways in which it can be a resource for them. The group toured (and shopped!) at the Skylight Boutique becoming aware of how it could be a gender affirming, pay-what-you-can experience for them. Y'all come back!

Dearest Beloveds,

The Peace of the Divine I pray unto you!

News reports about recent gun violence have been pointedly difficult, especially for the trans community and understandably distressing for own beloved community of Dreams & Visions. Evil is most definitely at work in government and in media where directed cruelly at the trans community, but it is important that we side against matching that evil with evil. When we do so, evil is victorious.

Instead, I would like to offer, for now, this Lament for Madness for consideration. If you or someone you love could use a listening heart or to simply talk or perhaps even receive a hug, we can find time to gather one-on-one. Feel free to reach out to [email protected].
