Many veterans suffer from kidney disease due to toxic chemical exposure, but the VA couldn't recognize it as disabling because it wasn't law. The PACT Act changed that, allowing veterans to be recognized for toxic exposure as disabling, like those exposed to burning oil fields in the Gulf War. This recognition is crucial for providing care and support.
