Do you know that Non-steroidal Anti -inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) can cause acute renal injury ( kidney damage)? Medications such as Ibuprofen can damage your kidneys when you take them outside of doctor’s prescription.
How? Ibuprofen, an NSAID, inhibits cyclooxygenase which leads to decrease prostaglandins which leads to vasoconstriction of the afferent arterioles which leads to decreased glomerular filtration rate, and finally, acute kidney injury.
