Yarrow vs Yarrow. This is why I want you to start your own herb garden! Look at the color difference: recently dried from my garden vs. purchased tea. They're both medicinal, but one is more alive 🌱

Allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever or pollinosis, is caused by seasonal pollen allergies.

Symptoms include excessive nasal mucus secretion (usually clear or white), itchy, watering eyes, sneezing, post-nasal drip and nasal obstruction.

While some herbs have specific benefits for treating hay fever, prevention is the better choice. For prevention, the use of immuneamphoterics, immunoregulatory herbs and herbs to stabilize mast cells and mucosal membrane tissue should be started 6-8 weeks before the usual onset of allergy season. The occasional use of nasal irrigation (Neti pot) can be helpful for clearing pollen from the sinuses and facilitating drainage of thick or sticky mucus. A study showed that overuse of Neti pot’s can interfere with healthy nasal flora and increase the risk of developing acute sinusitis.

Common herbs and supplements to help with allergic rhinitis (for oral use):

Bayberry root bark (Myrica cerifera)Can be used for patients with profuse nasal secretions that are clear or white. The tissue is atonic with post-nasal drip. This herb is very drying and should only be used in small amounts with less drying herbs.

Eyebright herb (Euphrasia spp.)The fresh tincture of Eyebright is useful for helping to dry up excessive sinus secretions, stabilize mast cells and inhibit histamine response. It is also of benefit for the red, itchy eyes caused by hayfever.

Horseradish root (Armoracia rusticana)This common condiment is also antibacterial and a pungent sinus dilator. It is useful for profuse white or clear nasal secretions.

Kudzu root/Ge Gen (Pueraria lobata)Acts as an antihistamine, helping to reduce excessive sinus secretions due to allergic rhinitis or colds.

Osha root (Ligusticum porteri)Is used for conditions with profuse nasal secretions, either clear or white in color, and post-nasal drip.

Quercetin is a flavonoid aglycone found in a wide variety of herbs and vegetables. Taken alone or with Bromelain, it can inhibit histamine release by stabilizing mast cells and preventing basophil degranulation as well as inhibiting inflammatory leukotrienes.

Yerba Mansa (Anemopsis californica)Is used to reduce excessive sinus secretions, especially if the mucus is clear or white. It can be combined with Eyebright or Kudzu root.

Other herbs used to stabilize mast cells and inhibit allergic response include Amla, Rose Hips, Hawthorn, Goji Berry, Blueberry, Pomegranate, Green Tea and Schisandra berry.

It's a full moon. Yes, this moon can be a good time for releasing what no longer serves you.
But how about releasing the narrative that says you have to actively find something to release? The fear that you're missing out if you don't. Not progressing. Not raising your vibe enough.

Chances are your body - your being - is already working out the release of something. Something has already come into fullness, ready to move into its next phase of existence a little lighter than before. Sometimes this isn't conscious and sometimes it doesn't need to be.

Instead of using your mind to search for something worth releasing, some goal to move toward and something else to move away from, try tuning in to what is Already moving within you.

You don't need words to find it or to explain it. It is deep within your psyche and being energized in your body right now.

A full moon, while significant, isn't the whole story. And the themes that apply on a general level might not touch upon the themes highlighted in your individual birth chart.
Understanding astrology is about recognizing that there are no single events. Everything is a process on a whole timeline worth of experiences.
An inhale becomes an exhale. The moon shapes us like a wave.

You know I see often that "herbal medicine is political", "herbal medicine is resistance". But tell me how? I mean I get it, but I disagree and find the word choice a little poisonous. Why would we call what it is to actually live, and be, and coexist, "politics" or "resistance"? It undermines the truth of what herbal medicine is actually about for me. It's about connection, isn't it?

And so we have to choose whether or not we want "connection" to be synonymous with politics or resistance. If we start to view actual connected living as a form of resistance, what does that do over time? Doesn't it take something strong and grounded and flexible and cripple it with stiffness? Doesn't it sabotage authenticity? What do you think?
