Reach out too us to learn more. We are a grassroots group of volunteers who help provide much needed services and support to local Vets. We assist at The Veterans Administration Hospital at Lyons. We work with the residents of Valley Brook. Valley Brook Village is a first of its kind VASH (Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing) housing community for homeless veterans, located on the Lyons Campus of the Department of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care System in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. We design services and experiences to improve the lives of our community. We utilize a creative approach to problem solving that arrives at new solutions tailored to meet their needs. It all begins with knowing the people we are serving. Our close relationships allow us to design a needs-based outreach that tries to serve each individual. We build, test and hone our programs until we get them right. Our volunteers assist in a variety of ways including transportation, tax prep, tutoring and day to day help. We are not a charity, we are an action network. Please bring us your talents.

On 9/11/2001, we were struck with unimaginable horror. Even in those darkest moments, we would see incredible acts of heroism and humanity. We would later learn of so many more.
On 9/12 and beyond, we would witness a global outpouring of both unity and support unrivaled in our lifetime.
When we say “Never Forget”,
Never forget the fallen
Never forget the families
Never forget our heroes
Never forget the response of the American people
Never forget the response of our friends and allies.

Today, August 7, is Purple Heart Day, commemorating service members wounded or killed by opposing forces. Countless recipients, including active service members, veterans, and DoD civilians have received the Purple Heart.

The medal features the profile of Gen. George Washington, who established its precursor, the Badge of Military Merit, in 1782. Originally awarded to only three Revolutionary War Soldiers, the honor was revived on the bicentennial of Washington's birth (February 22, 1932). Gen. Douglas MacArthur received the very first modern Purple Heart.

Today, let’s celebrate the brilliant minds of our founding fathers and the unbelievable courage of the Patriots that fought against tyranny. The document they gave us was a declaration of ideas. I encourage you to reread this precious gift.
