We spend so much time in our heads, sometimes it feels like we’re living life from the neck up.

Coming back into our bodies through meditation, is like welcoming ourselves home. It allows us to open up the trap door to our mind’s attic so we can let go of the clutter we hold onto. We clear a path to our foundation and reconnect with our own innate wisdom.

We’ll be coming home to ourselves in these upcoming Zoom meditation sits this week. Hope you’ll join me!

Do you get stuck in the “I’ll be happy when…” syndrome?

As in, I’ll be happy when (fill in the blank)…I have more free time; I make more money; I lose weight, etc., etc.

Wishes and goals can be clarifying and effective. It’s when they get in the way of realizing what’s good now, that they become a self-defeating prophesy.

Meditation brings us back to the present moment and helps us appreciate what is. It helps us see that, even in the midst of dissatisfaction and frustration, we can still experience happiness.

We’ll be opening up to everything the present moment has to offer in these upcoming Zoom meditation sits this week. Hope you’ll join me!

When we drop what we’re doing, even for a few seconds, and pay attention in the moment, we become clear, just like a snow globe becomes clear when we stop shaking it and its flakes settle.

Take a moment to find your inner snow globe with me in these upcoming Zoom meditation sits. Hope you'll join me!

When we meditate, we're practicing peace. We’re learning how to respond to our inner experience, no matter how fraught or loaded it feels, with self-awareness and compassion.

What we cultivate on the inside, can’t help but make its way outside, touching the people in our lives, our community and, as Dr. King believed, the entire world.

We’ll be taking inspiration from his practice of non-violence in these upcoming Zoom meditation sits this week: Monday@7:30 p.m. and Wednesday @8 a.m. Hope you’ll join me!

The November through December holiday ramp-up with all its gift-buying and giving, traveling, socializing, eating and toasting has come to an end.

Whether this time of year feels like a welcome break or a big dive into the winter doldrums, January, with its slower pace and brand-spanking new year, offers the time and space to reflect and recalibrate.

We'll be doing just that this week in these Zoom meditation sits: Monday @7:30 p.m. and Wednesday @ 8 a.m . Hope you'll join me!

Smiling comes easy when I’m on Mt. Desert Island, Maine. This little verse is a gatha called “Following the Breath” by Thich Nhat Hanh. Gathas are gentle verbal helpers to pull out of your pocket whenever you need some mindfulness.

Recently I was talking with a friend and shared my un-sugarcoated version of life in the time of Covid. Stuff I had been keeping inside in a ‘pull-up-your-bootstraps’ kind of way. I walked away from our conversation feeling such relief. Turns out she was experiencing a lot of the same things! It was so reassuring to know I wasn’t alone.

It’s been one year since Covid upended our lives. To mark and reflect on this, Aviva Kamander and I, along with the Rye Historical Society, are hosting a Zoom conversation and meditation. It’s an opportunity to connect with others on how this year has changed our lives, share reflections on the good, the bad and the in-between and experience some soul-soothing meditations.

Hope you'll join us on March 15th! Register at [email protected] for either 9:30 a.m. or 1 p.m. Each virtual gathering is approximately 1 hour.

Sometimes the nourishing qualities of meditation are served up in ways we never expect. Here's a recipe for mindfulness that you can always rely on.

This week is starting out with crock-pot navy bean soup. My post-holiday sugar hangover is yearning for something simple. Clear-cut instructions for nourishing my body, stabilizing my blood sugar and reassuring my soul that I’m doing something good for myself. Not that I’m judging myself as bein...
