Some of the innovations we use every day — text messaging, automatic doors, closed captions, curb cuts — were originally created to improve accessibility.

Innovation for disability has never only benefited a small group of people. It has often transformed the way the entire world functions.

When we invest in understanding autism and neurodiversity, we are not innovating on the margins — we are shaping the future for everyone.

Many autistic individuals spend years adapting to environments that were never designed for how they process the world.

Over time, constant sensory, social, and cognitive adaptation can become exhausting — even when it isn’t visible to others.

Understanding these experiences is the first step toward creating more supportive environments for autistic individuals and their families.

What’s one change you’ve seen make a positive difference for your child or loved one?

She doesn’t use speech—but she communicates, clearly and powerfully.
Watch as Siri a non-speaking college student, share her thoughts in real time using a letter board—each word spelt with intention, patience, and precision.

Moments like this challenge what we assume about communication, intelligence, and voice.

When we create the right supports, expression finds a way.

A simple question: “What are your dreams?”

Siri’s answer—spelled out, letter by letter—was clear:
“I want to study the autistic brain.”

Siri Chettipally is a non-speaking college student using a letter board to communicate her thoughts, ideas, and ambitions. Her goal isn’t just personal—it’s transformative: to help the world better understand autism from the inside out.

A student at the College of San Mateo, Siri is also an advocate for non-speakers, an artist, an entrepreneur, and an advisor shaping innovation in autism care. She is featured in the Emmy-nominated documentary My Name Is Siri.

Her voice may not be spoken—but it’s powerful, precise, and impossible to ignore.

Sensory overload can happen quickly—and what helps most is understanding how to respond in the moment.

A quieter space. Fewer words. Time to recover.
Small adjustments can make a meaningful difference.

Support doesn’t need to be complicated—it just needs to be thoughtful.

If you’re supporting someone, these moments are opportunities to build trust, not urgency.

Autism is often framed around challenges—but there’s also strength in how autistic minds think, focus, and solve problems.

When environments recognize and support these strengths, they become powerful assets.

“Lack of empathy” is one of the biggest misconceptions about autism.

Many autistic individuals feel deeply —
they just express it differently.

And that difference is often misunderstood.
