Didn’t hit your summer goals? That’s okay, now is the perfect time to start working toward next summer.

You’ve got plenty of time to make real, sustainable progress before the holiday meals, winter vacations, and busy season try to throw you off track.

And with the kids back in school, you may finally have a little extra time to take care of yourself!

Don’t wait until next summer to wish you had started sooner. Start now, build the habits, and give yourself something to be proud of next year.

I have VERY limited availability right now!
If you’ve been thinking about getting started, send me a message before the spots are gone.

A lot of my clients and things I see on social media are talks about the scale or their BMI. This picture of me is “obese” because I’m 6ft and 250lbs.

THE SCALE ISN’T THE ONLY MEASURE OF PROGRESS.

One of the biggest mistakes people make when starting their fitness journey is believing that the number on the scale or where they fall on a BMI chart tells the whole story.

It doesn’t.

The scale measures total body weight.
It doesn’t tell you how much of that weight is muscle, fat, water, bone, or other lean tissue.

BMI is a screening tool, not a body-composition measurement. It uses height and weight to categorize people. It cannot distinguish between muscle and fat, which means a muscular person and someone with the same height and weight can have very different body compositions.

That’s why I don’t want clients obsessing over one number.

Instead, look at the whole picture:

Strength increasing
Waist or other measurements changing
Clothes fitting differently
Progress photos
Energy and performance improving
More muscle and/or less body fat
Better consistency and habits

Sometimes your weight might barely change while your body changes dramatically.

That’s why your goal shouldn’t always be “What does the scale say?”

Ask yourself: “What is my body actually doing?”

Progress is more than a number.
Measure what matters.

One year ago today, I underwent emergency spine surgery.

After a few months of recovery, the real work began. Rebuilding my strength took patience, discipline, and the willingness to accept that I couldn’t train the way I used to. That’s easier said than done when you finally start feeling good again.

One of the hardest lessons was learning my new limits instead of chasing my old ones. Progress didn’t come from ignoring my body, it came from listening to it, making adjustments, and staying consistent.

Whether you’re dealing with an illness, injury, or disability, it doesn’t mean you have to give up on your health. It just means your path may look different than someone else’s.

Adapt, stay consistent, keep moving forward.

Your circumstances may change, but your commitment to taking care of yourself doesn’t have to.

One meal won’t make you unhealthy, just like one workout won’t make you fit.

Enjoy the birthday cake. Have the pizza with your family. Celebrate the holidays.

Fitness should improve your life, not take the joy out of it.

Stop beating yourself up over a “cheat meal.” What matters most is what you do consistently, not what you eat occasionally.

Balance beats perfection every time. 💪

Current clients: Nothing is changing for you. Your current pricing and plan will remain exactly the same.

If you’ve been thinking about getting started, now is a great time to reach out so we can find the coaching option that’s the best fit for your goals.

No matter which curl variation you choose, you’re training your entire biceps. You can’t completely isolate one head, but you can bias one over the other.

Exercises like the Bayesian curl, incline curl, and drag curl place your elbow behind your torso, putting the long head of the biceps in a stretched position. That increased stretch can make these exercises especially effective for emphasizing the long head.

A common mistake is letting your shoulders roll forward to finish the rep. When you do that, you shorten the long head and start using your anterior delts to help lift the weight. The result? Less tension where you were trying to place it.

If your goal is to emphasize the long head, lighten the weight, keep your upper arm where it belongs, and let your biceps do the work.

My favorite coaching cue:
“Don’t use your shoulders unless it’s shoulder day.”

Your biceps don’t need your shoulders to curl the weight, they need controlled reps and good technique.
