There was a time when I was the mom who desperately needed someone to tell me I wasn’t alone. 🤍
My journey into motherhood looked nothing like I imagined. After experiencing postpartum anxiety, OCD, depression, and birth trauma, I learned firsthand just how overwhelming and isolating the postpartum period can feel.
I was one in five women who experienced a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder, and at the time, I didn’t realize how many other mothers were struggling alongside me.
What I didn’t know then was that one day, my own experience would give me the opportunity to advocate for other women navigating the same struggles.
I am incredibly grateful to Newsday TV • Long Island News for the opportunity to share my story and speak about the importance of maternal mental health and Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs).
These conversations matter. PMADs affect so many women, yet far too many continue to struggle in silence, often feeling ashamed, misunderstood, or afraid to ask for help.
Beyond Motherhood was born from my own journey and the belief that no woman should have to navigate hers alone.
If sharing my story helps even one mother feel seen, understood, or empowered to reach out for support, then every vulnerable conversation is worth having.
We need to keep talking about maternal mental health, challenging the stigma, and reminding women that struggling does not define the kind of mother they are.
Because there is no one right way to experience motherhood. And no mother should have to do it alone. 🤍
