Home!

I am home and getting back into a routine.
My doctors appointment yesterday went very well. My creatine is down to 1.46 from 8.6 on February 2!

I am producing urine and the catheter is out. My doctors are quite happy with how ‘Hope’ is doing ( the name my aunt Sue Baughman suggested for the kidney). She is also doing well and up and moving like the amazing woman she is.

It truly is amazing at how the human body operates. We heard several stories of people in the waiting room whose kidneys fell asleep after surgery… and it makes one pause and give thanks to God for the miracle that He provided.

Next steps are bloodwork and appointments twice a week for the next three weeks in Cleveland to monitor my levels and adjust medications.

Thank you all for your thoughts, messages, and most of all prayers!

God is so good!
59 hours after my Aunt Sue Baughman was admitted to the hospital, she was discharged and on her way back home.
63 hours after I was admitted, I was discharged and able to spend the night in the hotel.
My mom and I will be here for another week with follow up appointments, but wow what a quick turn around!
My creatine number started the trip at 8.56, was 7.52 while in postop, 5.56 yesterday morning and was 3.25 this morning!
I feel so much better already and am looking forward to seeing what the next week brings.
My aunt is an amazing woman who has given me a second chance at life, and I will always be eternally grateful!
Thank you all for your continued thoughts, comments, and prayers… I am very humbled and grateful!

Good morning FB Friends!
It was a long day yesterday, but a very successful one! I went into surgery around 9:30 and got to my room at 8:30 pm.
Things went well and while my Aunt Sue Baughman and I ate both in a bit of pain, we are both doing well… Thank God!

They are doing bloodwork on me to see how my levels are and how the kidney is taking to its new environment.
The good news is I am creating quite a but urine which is a positive sign.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!

26 hours to go until we report to the hospital!

I finished up work today and my Aunt Sue Baughman is finishing up tomorrow then driving to the hospital. To say this woman is beyond amazing is an understatement!

Surgery will start around 7 am and is expected to finish for her around 12 and me around 2.

I truly appreciate all the thoughts, prayers, and support everyone has shown us during this time. It is amazing to know how many people are praying for a successful surgery.

God has been and will continue to hear the prayers and I trust He will take care of us.

God bless you all and thank you for your continued support!

Life Changing Update!

This Christmas I received the best present of all!
My Aunt Susie, unbeknownst to me, completed all testing at Cleveland Clinic and told me on Christmas Day that she was approved to be a donor!
While working her full time (and overtime) job as a traveling nurse, she and my Aunt Adele made multiple trips to complete all testing.
This week we leaened the surgery will be mid-February!

1217 days after being diagnosed with kidney failure, my life will change again, and this time for the better.

Words cannot express the love, gratitude, and humility I feel that she made this decision to save my life. She will forever be a hero in my eyes and I will always be grateful for her kindness and selflessness.

Please pray for both of us as we prepare for the surgery and recovery!
