September 1 marked the start of World Alzheimer's Month, led globally by Alzheimer's Disease International.
Here's a stat worth sitting with: a new case of dementia arises somewhere in the world every three seconds. But statistics rarely change how someone shows up for a person they love the next morning. What changes things is smaller than that.
One of our customers, Maddy, told us about visiting her father at his memory care community. Our founder Ju had spent time with him doing a puzzle earlier that day. When Maddy arrived for lunch, her dad looked up and said, ""It's lunch time already? I didn't even feel it."" He'd been focused, calm, engaged — for a stretch of time that, for him, had become rare.
That's the belief Aegeliss is built on: dementia care doesn't just need more awareness. It needs better design — of routines, environments, and the small daily moments where dignity is either protected or lost.
This month, we're spotlighting the people pushing this field forward: caregivers, care professionals, and changemakers. Organizations like the Alzheimer's Association, UsAgainstAlzheimer's, and Dementia Action Alliance do incredible work here every day.
Who's a changemaker in dementia care you think deserves more recognition? Tag them below — we're building our spotlight list starting now.
