Having breast cancer does not mean a woman will develop ovarian cancer; for most women the risk remains low (around 1–2%), while those with BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutations may have a higher lifetime ovarian cancer risk of about 10–45%.

Breast cancer care is changing fast.

We’re seeing advances in:
🔬 Earlier risk detection
🧪 Blood tests that can show how treatment is working
🎯 More personalized therapies

But here’s what often gets missed:

Progress in science doesn’t always mean equal access to it.

That gap matters.

Because the future of breast cancer care isn’t just about new technology, it’s about making sure people actually benefit from it.

Awareness. Access. Equity.

That’s where real impact happens.

If you’ve been dealing with bloating, pelvic pain, feeling full quickly, or changes in your bladder habits and your doctor brushed it off……this is for you.

Two tests that should be on your radar:

🔬 CA-125 blood test a tumor marker that can be elevated when ovarian cancer is present. It’s not perfect, but it’s a starting point your doctor should consider.

🩻 Transvaginal ultrasound (TVUS) gives a direct look at your ovaries to detect any masses or abnormalities that shouldn’t be there.

The problem? Too many women are sent home with “it’s probably stress” or “let’s wait and see” without either of these tests being ordered.

You know your body. If something feels off, advocate for yourself. Ask for both. By name. 📋

Early detection saves lives, and you deserve a provider who takes your symptoms seriously.

💬 Have you ever had to advocate for yourself at a doctor’s appointment? Tell me below. 👇🏾

Most people have never heard of inflammatory breast cancer. That’s the problem. 💗
Unlike typical breast cancer, IBC doesn’t always show up as a lump. Instead, look for:

🔴 Redness or discoloration of the breast
🔴 Skin that looks dimpled or pitted like an orange peel
🔴 Breast that feels warm or heavy
🔴 Swelling that comes on quickly
🔴 Ni**le changes or inversion

IBC is rare but it’s aggressive. It can be mistaken for an infection, a rash, or “just hormones.”
If something looks or feels different, don’t wait for it to go away. Push for answers. 💗

Triple Negative Breast Cancer affects Black women differently.

Black women are about twice as likely to be diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer compared to white women.

Why this matters:
• It tends to grow faster
• It often appears at younger ages
• It has fewer targeted treatment options

But here’s what many people don’t realize:

Many women who develop triple negative breast cancer do not have a family history of breast cancer.

This is why knowing your body, recognizing changes early, and advocating for your health is critical.

Early detection still saves lives.

Your body is the only place you have to live for your entire life.

Not your car.
Not your house.
Not your job.

Those things can be replaced.

Your body cannot.

Protecting your health is one of the most powerful investments you can make.

Early detection.
Prevention.
Knowing your body.

These are not small things.

If something feels off in your body don’t dismiss it. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it.

Push for answers. Ask for the test. Get the second opinion.

She is not waiting for a diagnosis.
She is choosing prevention.
She is choosing knowledge.
She is choosing HER health.

At EmpowerHER™, awareness is not just a month it is a mindset.

As women, especially over 40, we carry so much for others.
But we must carry our health with intention too.

Breast and ovarian cancer do not always speak loudly.
The signs can be subtle.
The risks can be genetic, lifestyle-related, or hidden in family history.

Sometimes the most powerful question is:
“What do I need to know about my body right now?”

This is your reminder to:
✔️ Schedule your screenings
✔️ Know your family history
✔️ Listen to your body
✔️ Advocate for yourself

Because early awareness is not fear.
It is power.
It is protection.
It is legacy.

You are not overreacting.
You are being proactive.
You are being Empowered.
