We think the best CME happens far from any hospital.
Last week, 40 of us—physicians, NPs, PAs, RNs, and a handful of adventurous guests—called the wild and scenic Klamath River our classroom. We practiced the hands-on skills you can’t learn from a screen: coaxing a fire to life, reducing a dislocated shoulder, tying knots, reading the river. Then we’d come off the water to riverside meals from Chef Lo that honestly deserved a Michelin star.
There was room for the quiet stuff too—sunrise yoga, slow evenings by the fire, the kind of conversations that turn strangers into friends. By the end, nobody wanted to leave. In fact, a third of the group wasn’t ready to stop and tacked on the optional summit of 14,000-ft Mt. Shasta.
