Beckett Jackson is 7 years old and was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at age 3. 💛

Beckett has an incredible imagination and loves to build anything and everything. From robots to Transformers, he can turn just about any object into something creative and unique. 🤖✨

He’s also quite the jokester, always ready to laugh, play, and “cut up” with those around him. Beckett has a big heart and is constantly making sure everyone else is happy, spreading joy wherever he goes. 😊

His creativity, humor, and kindness make him truly one of a kind. 💫

We know how important it is to find summer activities where your child can thrive, make friends, and just enjoy being a kid! The Exceptional Foundation Summer Camp 2026 is an incredible, supportive resource right here in our community.

From June 1st to July 24th, they offer an engaging, structured program packed with classic summer fun:

📅 When: Mon–Fri | 7:50 AM – 5:30 PM
🎨 Activities: Art, sports, swimming, and exciting field trips
🤝 Focus: Built-in social skills development and meaningful connections

While long weekends and shifts in daily routines can sometimes be tricky to navigate, they also bring an opportunity to explore new, sensory-safe environments! If you're looking for inclusive, sensory-friendly ways to spend the holiday weekend here in Alabama, here are a few ideas:

🌳 Explore the Outdoors: Check out a local accessible park, like the EXPLORE Playground & Splashpad in Hoover, designed specifically with therapeutic and inclusive play in mind.
🦁 Visit Sensory-Inclusive Venues: The Birmingham Zoo is a certified sensory-inclusive facility through KultureCity. You can check out sensory bags with noise-canceling headphones and fidget tools at the front gate!
🏡 At-Home Sensory Fun: If crowds aren't your family's thing, try beat-the-heat activities at home like rainbow soap foam car washes, a patriotic sensory bin with colored rice, or a backyard water balloon toss.

Ariana Edwards is 4 years old and was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at age 4. 💛

Ariana is mostly non-verbal, but she beautifully expresses herself in her own ways, often singing songs and saying a few words with a little assistance. 🎶✨

She has a big love for princesses, with Ariel being her absolute favorite! 🧜‍♀️💫 Ariana also enjoys reading books and spending time working on puzzles, showing her focus and curiosity. 📚🧩

Her unique voice and the ways she connects with the world are a reminder that communication comes in many forms, and each one is meaningful and important. 💙

We want to send a massive congratulations to Oak Mountain High School Principal Andrew Gunn on winning the primary election for the next Shelby County Schools Superintendent!

Beyond his incredible 22+ years of dedication to local education, Dr. Gunn is a leader who truly walks the walk. We are so proud to have had him as a sponsor for our 2026 Walk for Autism events, showing firsthand his deep commitment to supporting, accepting, and uplifting individuals with autism and their families across Alabama.

Huge thanks to the UAB School of Health Professions program Class 60! ⛳️💙 We are incredibly grateful to be a beneficiary of this year’s MSHA Classic Golf Tournament held at Highland Park Golf Course.

Because of the hard work of these future healthcare leaders and the incredible generosity of the local community, Autism Support of Alabama was presented with a fantastic $8,800 donation!

These funds will stay right here in our state, directly supporting our family grant programs, vital resources, and statewide advocacy initiatives.

💙 Faces of Autism: Meet Everett Claire 💙

Everett Claire Kelsoe is 5 years old (almost 6!) and was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder just one year ago. 💛

She is a vibrant, outgoing, and incredibly friendly little girl who brings joy wherever she goes. Everett Claire loves to sing and dance, and she’s always ready for an outdoor adventure—especially camping and hiking with her family. 🌿✨

Her favorite food is “white dip” (cheese dip, of course!), and her excitement for the things she loves is absolutely contagious. She enjoys playing with friends, exploring her curiosity for science, and lights up when talking about princesses, mermaids, animals, or building with Legos. 🧜‍♀️🦁🧱

Everett Claire embraces life with wonder, joy, and endless enthusiasm—a beautiful reminder to celebrate every moment. 💫
