Ronald was admitted to our Encompass Health hospital in Sunrise, Florida to recover from a leg infection. Therapy helped him regain strength and mobility and after 10 days of rehabilitation, Ronald discharged walking independently with a rollator.

On his final day at the hospital, he surprised our team by teaching them how to dance the foxtrot!

“I can’t believe you all got me dancing again,” he said. “I haven’t danced in years and never thought I’d be strong enough to do it.”

During an occupational therapy session at our Encompass Health hospital in Lutz, Florida, John practiced preparing one of his favorite meals: a burger with a side salad! 🍔🥗

The session focused on safe kitchen mobility, adaptive cutting techniques for low vision and energy conservation strategies while cooking. Activities like these help patients build confidence and independence in everyday tasks. 👨‍🍳

Shani was admitted to our Encompass Health hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana following a stroke that affected her left arm and hand. In therapy, Shani participated in a grocery shopping simulation designed to strengthen the use of her left hand.

Earlier this year, our Encompass Health hospital in Tallahassee, Florida was honored to support long time Florida State University defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews during his recovery after a fall. Mickey broke his right femur and injured his elbow while protecting his great-granddaughter from harm.

Through physical and occupational therapy, he regained his independence and returned to spending time with his family. It was a privilege to be part of your recovery journey, Coach! 🏈

Preston came to our Encompass Health hospital in Parkersburg, West Virginia after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune disorder affecting the nervous system. Upon admission, he was unable to sit or stand without support and required assistance for mobility and self-care.

Determined to regain his independence, Preston worked tirelessly with his therapy team. His goal was to walk out the front door at discharge, and he did just that! We are proud of his perseverance and progress and thankful he trusted us with his care!

Toby was admitted to our Encompass Health hospital in Huntsville, Alabama after a stroke left him unable to speak, stand, walk, move his limbs or consistently open his eyes.

Toby worked with his physical, occupational and speech therapy teams determined to make progress. By discharge, Toby was walking, climbing stairs, communicating effectively and completing self-care tasks with minimal assistance. His recovery exceeded expectations and reflects the power of perseverance and rehabilitation. Congratulations on your incredible progress, Toby!

Doru was admitted to our Encompass Health location in Libertyville, Illinois following a stroke. Through an intensive, interdisciplinary therapy program focused on balance, mobility and self-care, he made steady progress.

By discharge, Doru achieved independence with activities of daily living and advanced to walking with assistance. He shared that being able to walk again gave him hope and credited his care team for preparing him for continued recovery.
