As dietitians, we have concerns over the carnivore diet, it’s not because we “hate meat.”
Protein is important. Iron is important. B12 is important. Meat can absolutely be part of a healthy diet.

What concerns us is eliminating entire food groups and calling it the answer for everyone.

Here’s why:

• Fiber matters for gut health, cholesterol, blood sugar, and fullness
• Fruits + vegetables provide vitamins, antioxidants, and phytonutrients linked to long-term health
• Many people feel better initially simply because they cut out ultra processed foods, not necessarily because plants were the issue
• Longterm research on all-meat diets is still very limited and not looking promising
• Extreme restriction can create fear around food and become difficult to sustain

Nutrition science consistently supports variety, balance, and flexibility, not extremes.

You do not need to fear blueberries to be healthy.
We’d love to utilize your insurance benefits to work with you on how to work a variety of foods into your diet to help you reach your health goals!

One whole year of Mission Dietitian! 1️⃣🎉

A few years ago, we were two dietitians, moms, and friends with a dream to start a private practice and improve the lives of others the best way we know how: through nutrition education, community, and real life experience.

We love doing what we do. Because of you all, this isn’t just a passion project- it’s our livelihood. We are so grateful for your support and are excited to see where the next year takes us.

Thank you for being here and for trusting us to teach you a thing or two- whether it’s a new recipe for your family, how to increase your fiber intake, or how to improve your relationship with food. We’re on a mission to keep supporting you through your nutrition journeys 💚

Sharing a typical day of meals from a Registered Dietitian & mom to a 3 year old and 8 month old 💚🥑👶🏼👧🏼

Please know that my day might look different than yours, and that’s okay! We all have different goals, preferences, and capacities to keep in mind. My meals are certainly *not perfect* and each day varies a bit.

Now that I’m in a comfortable groove adjusting to two kids, my focus is really on feeling strong and eating for longevity so I can be the best and most capable mom I can be. Swipe through to get a glimpse of my average day!

•Breakfast: whole grain english muffin w/ berry preserves and 3 scrambled eggs. Non-negotiable for me is adequate protein and fiber in the morning!
•Snack: David’s protein bar after my workout. I knew it would be a few hours until I got lunch so I needed something to hold me over until then!
•Lunch: Big leftover gal!! I made a bean based vegetarian dish for dinner the night before and threw together a salad to have on the side.
•Dinner: Super unaesthetic Greek turkey meatballs with lemon orzo and peppers and onions, topped with a yogurt based sauce.

And that’s a wrap! Do you want to see more of these? Let us know!

Nighttime overeating isn’t about lack of willpower, it’s usually your body playing catchup at the end of the day.

Here are the most common reasons it happens + what actually helps:

• You don’t eat enough in general during the day.
> Skipping meals or “being good” all day = your hunger comes on stronger at night.
Fix: Eat balanced meals every 3–4 hours (protein + fiber + fat = key)

• You’re missing out on fiber-filled carbohydrates.
> Low-carb days often lead to high-carb nights. That’s not a coincidence!
Fix: In addition to non-starchy veggies, include whole grains, legumes, and fruit at your meals to stay fuller longer.

• You’re mentally restricting certain foods.
> Telling yourself certain foods are “off limits” makes you want them more.
Fix: Give yourself permission to have those foods earlier in the day to avoid a binge at night.

• You’re exhausted or overstimulated
> Late night eating can be less about hunger and more about finally slowing down at the end of the day.
Fix: Build in small moments of rest during the day (not just at night) and make sure you are getting quality sleep.

• Reflect back on your day. Ask yourself:
> Did I actually eat enough today? Did I snack around for lunch when I made my kids their meal? Did I get adequate protein and fiber in? Am I tired, overwhelmed, or stressed?

Night eating isn’t the problem, it’s the signal that your body is missing out on something earlier in the day. When you start fueling your body consistently, the “out of control” feeling at night usually fades.

Save this as a reminder + send to a friend who needs to hear this ❤️

What I ate today 🤍

A little glimpse into real life as a dietitian… and a mom of 3 in a very busy season.

Breakfast: English muffin + eggs + greens + berries
Snack: quick protein on the go
Lunch: BBQ chicken plate
Dinner: oven baked chicken parm + pasta + a loaded kale salad
Ending the day with a few chocolate chips

No perfection. No extremes. Just balanced, realistic meals that fit into real life.

This is your reminder that healthy eating doesn’t have to look “perfect” to be effective.

HUNGER vs. CRAVINGS
from Registered Dietitians

Ever feel like you need something sweet… but you just ate? Or you HAVE to have a piece of chocolate immediately? Let’s breakdown true hunger vs. cravings 👇🏻

HUNGER (your body asking for fuel)
• Builds gradually
• Open to different foods (a meal sounds good, not just one thing)
• Physical signs: stomach growling, low energy, trouble focusing
• Goes away after eating a balanced meal

CRAVINGS (your brain wants something specific)
• Comes on suddenly
• Very specific (“I need chips… not anything else”)
• Often tied to emotions, habits, or environment
• Doesn’t always go away after you’re full

Ask yourself:
“Would I eat a chicken + veggie + carb meal right now?”
→ YES = likely hunger
→ NO, I just want cookies = likely a craving

❕Important: cravings aren’t bad. Ignoring them completely can backfire and lead to overeating later. The goal is awareness, not avoidance.

RD tips:
• Don’t let yourself get overly hungry (this amplifies cravings)
•Make sure you’re hydrated
• Build balanced meals: protein + fiber + healthy fat
• Honor cravings intentionally instead of impulsively
• Check in with emotions: stress, boredom, fatigue
•It is also very normal for your body to want sugar when it’s tired. Our digestive tract breaks down sugar for energy much quicker than it breaks down balanced meals for energy.

Your body is always communicating. Learning the difference is where the power is! 🧠💪🏼
