After being in the fitness industry for 14 years, Hawkins decided to focus on working with seniors because he felt as though seniors were being neglected in the fitness community. Balance • Strength • Core • Post Rehabilitation • Muscular Endurance • Stabilization

In 1986 Hawkins was in the best shape of his life until he was diagnosed with a virus that put him in the hospital for three months. T

his virus was called Guillain Barre Syndrome which causes paralysis. Hawkins nervous system was nearly destroyed. He was forced to re-educate his peripheral nervous system in order to regain the ability to perform daily activities. Hawkins recovered from Guillain Barre Syndrome and now educates seniors on how to stay healthy and fit. He counsels them on nutrition, designs exercise programs to improve balance while building muscle and motivates his clients to reach their fitness goals. The services offered by Hawkins are unique. His workout sessions are hosted in the home of his clients which allow them to work out comfortably within their own environment. Working in the home atmosphere provides clients with the advantage of improving their daily functional issues. For example, one client experienced back problems therefore taking food out of the oven was painful. Hawkins assessed the situation and developed a program that helped her retrain her body to make the process less painful and more functional. Hawkins wants to empower his clients with the keys to fitness and nutrition to help them understand the importance of a well-balanced exercise program. By learning the proper mechanics of strength training, the appropriate intensity levels of aerobic training and the value of flexibility, his clients can safely achieve a higher level of fitness. After being in the fitness industry for 14 years, Hawkins decided to focus on working with seniors because he felt as though seniors were being neglected in the fitness community

Dystany Spurlock just made history as the first Black woman to race in NASCAR, and her journey to this moment started with the sounds of engines roaring through her childhood home. Growing up just two miles from Richmond International Raceway in Virginia, Dystany was introduced to NASCAR at age 6 when her grandfather would open all the windows and doors so she could hear the races. What started as distant engine sounds became a lifelong dream.

Before breaking into one of motorsport's most exclusive arenas, Dystany worked as a flight attendant, building a completely different career while her racing dreams stayed alive in the background. The transition from serving passengers at 30,000 feet to commanding a race car at 180 mph represents the kind of bold career pivot that separates dreamers from history makers.

In 2026, Dystany didn't just make her debut in the ARCA Menards Series, she delivered results that proved she belonged on the track. Finishing 7th in her very first race, she showed that breaking barriers and performing at elite levels aren't mutually exclusive. From a little girl in Virginia listening to races through open windows to becoming the first Black woman to compete in NASCAR with a top-10 debut finish, Dystany Spurlock's story proves that sometimes the dreams that start closest to home are the ones worth chasing the furthest.
