Over the last few months, I've gave a talk to HR leaders in DC called "The Hidden Cost of Load", and was a guest on the Trissential 1% Better podcast. We discussed that 8 in 10 working-age Americans now have at least one chronic condition (and 4 in 10 have at least two), why healthcare spend keeps increasing (it's outpacing inflation by 6:1), and why the wellness industry isn't moving that number.
The answer is the same whether I'm talking to a burned-out VP or a parent managing a child with a complex chronic illness or someone sitting with labs that look good but with persistent symptoms.
You can't "cope" your way out of an overloaded environment. We can't "cope harder" to offset the load our body can't handle. The load has to come down. The body's capacity to process the load has to go up. And we have to rebalance our internal systems that have gotten stuck. That's the trifecta. And we can do all of those things.
I lived it personally, I've seen versions of it in the 100+ clients with kids with complex and chronic conditions conditions, and I've seen the research that backs it up.
