I’m not saying… I’m just saying.

Have you *tried* throwing them outside and telling them to water the planters? If nothing else, you’ll get 10-15 minutes of peace. And isn’t that what we all need sometimes? šŸ™ƒ

Access combined with a small panel means I know all my patients and their families! It means being included in fun milestones, and also being present for frequent check ins.

I love the opportunity Free Range has given me to provide holistic personalized care to my families.

At my practice I allow families to space vaccines as they feel comfortable because I am able to provide care for these kiddos in a safe environment given my small panel of children (TL;DR my waiting room isn’t full of kids and therefore kids don’t get sick coming into my office).

That said, whenever the question of ā€œwhich vaccines should we prioritize/get first/consider?ā€ I always bring up the pneumococcal vaccine and how important it is to prevent big scary things like meningitis and pneumonia, but also little things like ear infections. There are numerous studies out of several different countries (Israel, UK, Sweden, etc) that all show vaccination against pneumococcal decreases frequency of antibiotic usage through the first 3 years of life.

Know what else is also happening during the first 3 years of life? Your child’s gut microbiome is getting established… for life!

Protect your kids’ microbiomes: get them vaccinated!

READ ME: no one reports you to DFCS/child protective services if you tell someone you need help/you’re struggling with post partum depression. It’s okay to ask for help.

The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale is a 10 question self-reported screener that attempts to find those moms struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety.

It can be so scary to answer honestly, but as a pediatrician I want you to know: the whole point is to connect moms to resources so they can get help sooner rather than later and begin to enjoy this chapter of life before things ever get bigger and more dramatic than they need to.

I totally understand the temptation to downplay your symptoms or answer dishonestly (try struggling with postpartum and having to tell your employer about it because that’s your babies doctor. Believe me when I say, I get it!). But if you are feeling down, tell your pediatrician or OB about it as soon as possible (and yes, you can totally follow up with your OB sooner than the 6 week mark!).

When I opened Free Range Pediatrics last fall, I had no idea how quickly this community would grow.
It’s been such a gift to care for families in a way that feels more personal, more connected, and more aligned with what I believe pediatric care should be.
As the practice continues to grow, I’ve been making thoughtful decisions about how to keep that level of care and access for every family here.
As such, I’ll be transitioning away from founding member rates for new families.
Any family who joins before June 1 will still be able to lock in the current pricing going forward.
I never want this practice to feel rushed or overcrowded, so these decisions are always made with intention—for both current and future families.
If you’ve been considering joining, I’d love to care for your family! Meet and greets can be scheduled by heading to freerangepeds.com and clicking the link at the top of the page.
