This week, I talked with Usman Mozumdar—a 13-year military veteran.

From serving in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy to becoming an IT professional and golf instructor, this veteran continues to demonstrate what service, dedication, and leadership look like beyond the uniform.

As an instructor with Warrior Golf Academy (WGA), he helps veterans, first responders, and their families discover the game of golf while building skills, confidence, and career opportunities.

WGA provides completely free, comprehensive golf training and career development, proving that golf can be more than a game—it can be a pathway to healing, connection, personal growth, and new beginnings.

Tune in to Beck the Vet this week as we discuss Usman’s military service, life after the uniform, technology, and the power of golf to make a difference in the lives of those who serve.

What are you doing to better yourself today?

Need to get the ball up in the air and stop it fast? ⛳️

Here is a quick short-game tip to keep in your back pocket: When you're chipping onto the green, try adding just a little more wrist hinge.

More wrist action equals more flight and less distance. It helps pop the ball up softly so it lands gently, rather than rolling right off the back edge of the green.

What is your go-to wedge when you need to hit a delicate, high-flying chip?

We’ve all been there: You pure every iron on the practice range, step up to the first tee feeling absolutely dialed in, and... immediately chunk it into the rough. 🤦‍♂️⛳️

Sometimes, no matter how confident you feel, the game just humbles you. That’s the beautiful madness of golf! The real test isn't being flawless, it's having the grit to laugh off a bad break, reset your fundamentals, and focus entirely on the next shot. One bad swing doesn't erase your hard work.

Dust it off and keep swinging.

What's your favorite way to quickly shake off a terrible shot and get your head back in the game?

Ever feel like the VA expects you to eat nothing but pills for every meal based on how many bottles pile up? You are definitely not alone in that stack!

If you've got a surplus of medications piling up or expired prescriptions taking up space in the cabinet, don't just stash them away or toss them out carelessly. You can safely return your extra or expired medications directly back to the VA or a local hospital.

---

Why Proper Disposal Matters:

* Safety First: Keeps unused prescriptions out of the wrong hands and prevents accidental poisonings at home.

* Environmental Protection: Prevents active pharmaceutical ingredients from ending up in local water supplies through improper disposal.

* Clarity: Keeps your current daily routine organized without old bottles getting mixed in.

Check in with your local VA facility or hospital pharmacy to see how they handle take-backs and drop-off bins in your area.

Healing, Camaraderie, and Community on the Course

What happens when a golf club becomes a lifeline?

At Warrior Golf Academy, we believe that golf is much more than a sport, it is a powerful tool for connection, mental wellness, and community building. In this short outreach film, we take you behind the scenes to show how the game brings Military, Veterans, First Responders, and civilians together to share laughs, build unbreakable bonds of camaraderie, and support one another on and off the course.

Whether it is through free clinics, mentorship, or simply walking 18 holes side-by-side, find out how we are changing lives, one swing at a time.
