Our beautiful baby Harrison was born after a series of miscarriages and a disappointing molar pregnancy. We finally thought we had achieved our long-awaited dream of a little family with our son’s arrival. Harrison came into this world not breathing or moving. He was later diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Myotubular Myopathy (XLMTM). The specialists have told us that the next two years are very important to protect him from illness, even the common cold could be hard for Harrison to recover from. Therefore, every minute counts.

We feel like we’ve been dealt the worse hand in making a family and with a difficult history behind us, we now face an uncertain future with a son born diagnosed with a life limiting genetic disease. There is no cure, clinical trial, surgery, or drug that will fix Harrison. What we can control is what life we provide for him.

We are faced with thoughts and decisions of quality of life and what we want as a family. Generally, you have a life time to figure these things out, but we now have to consider and implement them in a much shorter time frame. We want to bring our son home to provide these things for him and create the happiest and most fulfilled life we can offer for him.

New Zealand is currently moving into weather that is more favourable for Harrison and gives him the best start possible before the next cold and flu season. For this reason we’d love to get home before Christmas, when the summer truly begins, all we have now is time with him.

The doctors’ have told us in order to move Harrison from Ireland to New Zealand, we will need a medical flight requiring a specialised team. The expense of this is overwhelming. We are asking for your help to raise enough funds to get baby Harrison home as soon as possible. Your donation would allow our beautiful baby boy to live out his short life surrounded by his loving family.

Thank you,

James, Elizabeth and Harrison Dunne
