May is Stroke Awareness Month 🧠

Stroke is the No. 5 killer and a leading cause of preventable disability in the United States — and it can happen to anyone, at any age, at any time.

Knowing the warning signs of stroke can save a life and reduce long-term disability. Remember to B.E. F.A.S.T. 🚨

🔹 B – Balance problems
🔹 E – Eyes, blurry vision
🔹 F – Face drooping
🔹 A – Arm weakness
🔹 S – Speech difficulty
🔹 T – Time to call 911

Other symptoms may include sudden dizziness, severe headache, vision changes, or weakness on one side of the body. Every minute matters when it comes to stroke care.
You can help reduce your risk of stroke by:
✔️ Managing blood pressure and diabetes
✔️ Staying active
✔️ Quitting smoking
✔️ Limiting alcohol
✔️ Eating a balanced, nutritious diet

This Stroke Awareness Month, take time to learn the signs, know your risk factors, and encourage your loved ones to do the same. Early treatment saves lives.

A huge shoutout to our Avery Healthcare Market Plant Operations team for spending part of their Memorial Day holiday helping complete the final reset of the dining room at Charles A. Cannon, Jr. Memorial Hospital following the last phase of renovations. 👏🏻

Over the past several months, the dining room has been thoughtfully updated with new energy-efficient windows and patio doors, updated trim, sound-dampening panels, new flooring, and refreshed furniture — creating a more comfortable and welcoming space for everyone who uses it.

The dining room at Cannon Memorial Hospital serves not only our patients, visitors, and staff, but also many members of our community who stop in regularly. We’re grateful to our Plant Ops team for their hard work and dedication in helping bring this project to life!
