Able to take a Wednesday where I'm not rushing off somewhere.....

Other to yoga that is 🤭

Restorative yoga with Reiki for the win tonight. Got some warm digestive supportive tea, gentle movements to move stuck energy, and a bomb sunset 🌇

I couldn't ask for a better night 🫶🐝🫧

Client feedback can be so nurturing sometimes 🥹🫪

I tend to over-explain the clients right to refusal and "halt" probably to the point that I'm talking too much 😝

It's nice when I can hear a little how someone who internalizes the work silently is experiencing the shift in their body!

I love this work, it really is so wonderful 🫶

🦑 Interoception awareness 🧠

Yoga class always has me tuning in and feeling

This time I was reflecting on how I notice when I'm hungry and the somatic experience I go through to fulfill that hunger or to redirect it 🍣

Interoception is the program our nervous system runs to check the internal state of our being. It uses the nerves as hardware and the skill as software. It can include such functions as hunger, heart rate / breath rate, temperature, signals for the bathroom, etc. 🧠

When this skill is disrupted by injury, fear, emotional distress, or trauma it can wreak havoc. It could even rewire the signals to the insula in the brain - the area responsible for mapping the body. 🗺️

Utilizing somatic experiencing, we can correctly interpret the signals by slowing down and noticing without agenda, without forcing, and by tuning into each millimeter of our cells.

What I was surprised about this particular yoga class, was how much my own process is not the norm of the people I work with! And I hope it can serve as an example of what is possible with this work and improving our daily present experience 💚🫶

Myofascial release can help with more than just injuries - it can help with maintenance and keeping normal functioning going!

In terms of sinuses, if those suckers get inflamed or stuffy, myofascial release can help open and clear the drainage pathways to keep you going.

I followed up with a client yesterday who I did cranial work with 6 months ago, and she's had the best allergy season of recent memory after our 1 session! ❗❗
