It's Mouth/Body Monday!
When we talk about bone health during and after menopause, we hear a lot about the hips, spine, and wrists.
But what about the jaw?
The bone that surrounds and supports our teeth is part of our skeleton, too. And research suggests that osteoporosis and systemic bone loss can have implications for the bone supporting our teeth, particularly when other factors like periodontal disease are present.
It’s another example of why looking at health one body part at a time can leave out important pieces of the picture.
Bone health is jaw health is menopause health.
At KaiAvora, we’re working to make these connections easier to understand and easier to act on.
