Reason #2 CM services have been on hold. Months of studying and putting other things on hold to take a long exam and get a piece of paper to validate…17 years of experience at my day job. Ironically, I had to ignore those years of real life experience to pass it. IYKYK. 😅🫠

Thanks to my friends for the encouragement along the way, checking in on me to say good luck and celebrating this milestone with me. You are the real ones. 💜

Help me celebrate this accomplishment related to my other job! (It’s the reason I put CM services on hold the last few months. 😉)
‌
It’s been a whole journey. I’m so proud of myself that I didn’t quit.
‌
A friend passed away unexpectedly during the 2nd week of training and the test week in 2021. I still managed to do well on the test.
‌
Trying to do a healthcare improvement project while hospitals were just starting to ramp services back up during the pandemic was probably THE WORST timing for a project like this for many reasons.
‌
Then I changed jobs twice so the project part got restarted THREE times which set me back. So I ended up working many long days this past year to get back on track. 😅
‌
Despite those and other curveballs that sucked I ultimately ended up with the best coach, team and project to work with at the end. And my project went from being regional level to national level. Projected cost avoidance of $1 million dollars a year as a conservative estimate for the ROI.
‌
I’m one of the few in my organization that finished the project and got the certification. 💪🏻
‌
But now that means they might give me all the hard projects. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️😆😬
‌
I do love process improvement and the mindset you get with the training. Highly recommend getting this training if you are interested in this stuff. Many companies do value this certification.
‌
It also REALLY helps with business case justifications for staffing and other resources to present to leadership. It’s harder for them to argue against what you are able to prove through this process. So you do end up making a positive difference. ✨
‌
And now I need to catch up on sleep. 😴

Update on Cultivate Movement services.
‌
Live virtual classes are on hold for the fall.
‌
I have some other exciting opportunities I need to make some space for currently.
‌
I will still be taking a little break from social media, mostly only posting to IG/FB stories so check those.
‌
The services that will continue for the next few months will be mobility assessments, 1:1 coaching, and other special offerings.
‌
Feel free to email me at [email protected] for more information.
‌
Check my YT channel for free videos to support your practice during this time.
‌
I hope you all have a fabulous fall!

When you put some things in life on hold, it creates space for other things. It’s hard to do but necessary.
‌I put some CM services and other life things on hold so I could pursue other important things. It also allowed me to do an aerial performance, something I haven’t done in 6 six years! This is my first sling act and first skit in an act.
‌Here are highlights from the act. 🙃
‌Thanks to for teaching me the skills and helping me with this act. *Please don’t teach yourself these skills, work with an instructor like her and take her workshops!*
‌Thanks to for the opportunity to show folks what 46 year olds CAN do and to the instructors for always encouraging me!
‌Thanks to Michelle showing up as a supportive friend and taking this video.
‌Thanks to my fellow circus friends for saying that I most definitely should perform this act (and the skit part)! It’s such a supportive community that I cherish so much.
‌And yes, I trained hard by lifting weights, doing cardio and doing mobility training consistently for many years to get to this place. And my body felt GREAT going into this performance.

Update on Cultivate Movement services.

Live virtual classes are on hold for the spring. I typically don’t run live virtual classes in the summer either.

I have some other exciting opportunities I need to make some space for currently.

I will also be taking a little break from social media, mostly only posting to IG/FB stories so check those.

The services that will continue for the next few months will be mobility assessments, 1:1 coaching, and other special offerings.

When you know better, do better.
‌
I used to feel the need to spend 30 minutes warming up in my late 30s because I felt old.
‌
But then I started doing consistent mobility training to prep a day or two before activities, so my joints are now at a healthier daily baseline.
‌
Now I do CARs as my joint-specific warmup and then some dynamic flow movements for 15 minutes and I feel good to go.
‌
Sadly, folks often tell me they irritated a joint in group warmups and don’t feel adequately warmed up.😲
‌
Why upgrade?
‌
DO ALL the joint movements to be thorough.
FULL ROM. If you don’t use it all, you lose it over time.
BE INTENTIONAL with how you are moving the specific joint. Don’t multitask and sacrifice full ROM.
ADJUSTABLE but stable exercise. Appropriate for less-bendy AND comfortable for bendy folks. Prioritize full ROM over a balancing act for warmups. It's hard to do both well.
SCREEN joints for quality and quantity of movement. Use that to inform workout decisions each day.
MOVEMENT PATTERNS. CARs closely resemble sports skills. Build mind-body connections, especially for hypermobile folks.
NOURISH joints with proper, healing movement. CARs are great for cranky joints to decrease inflammation and muscle spasms.
Learn these and more via videos on my YouTube channel or at my Kinstretch classes.
‌
I’d rather do 15 minutes of CARs than 30 minutes of exercises that are not very useful or that will potentially irritate my joints.
‌
You can also progress and layer CARs. Like add knee CARs to hip CARs. And add isometric movement pathways to the mix.

I have worked HARD for every degree of flexibility I can reach and every pound I can lift.
‌
It has been a consistent commitment in my life.
‌
It hasn’t always been easy. I have had knee surgeries on both sides and other injuries along the way.
‌
I have re-evaluated my training plan MANY times to figure out what works and isn’t worth my time.
‌
I didn’t add a lot of mobility training until I was 40. Now I’m a high-performing 45-year-old.
‌
I couldn’t do splits and certain weight-training exercises until I did.
‌
As a result, I have much fewer injuries, less joint pain, decreased stiffness, and fewer overall athletic limitations.
‌
I can do skills in my 40s that I NEVER thought I could do when I was in my 30s.
‌
I can squat deep and lift HEAVY without feeling like I was run over by a truck the next day.
‌
My mental health has improved tremendously due to not having chronic inflammation, pain, and limitations in my life.
‌
I can more fully ENJOY my favorite hobbies like flipping around in the air.
‌
I feel CONFIDENT trying NEW movement activities.
‌
My joints feel HEALTHY and RESILIENT. I recover faster from hard workouts.
‌
Exercises are more accessible and comfortable than they were before, so I no longer dread them. This makes me more consistent in my workouts.
‌
More consistent work equals making PROGRESS.
‌
If I could do this, you could too.
‌

Did I drill this complex skill a million times? NO. Too much stress on my body. I also find drilling bad technique to be an added injury risk. Not worth it.
‌
What’s my secret?
‌
Put my time and resources into the pieces that make up the skill. Train at end-range on the ground because that part is vital for this and other aerial skills. Stop wasting time with leg lifts in mid-ROM.
‌
Shoulder flexion PAILs isometric contraction to make a strong base for which to drive my spine and legs off. That way, my upper body does not collapse with elbow bend, making lifting legs even harder.
‌
Lumbar flexion for compression aspect makes my legs as light as possible and takes strain off my hip flexors and low back. EXPAND lumb flex ROM. PRH and PRLO to squeak out those last 5-10 degrees of end-range!
‌
Hip flexion and abd to MAINTAIN compression to make the skill easier.
‌
Scapular retraction for the final phase to maintain straight arms. Commonly mistaken for thoracic extension with misinformed cues. T-spine ext would make me open too much and make legs heavy. Need this to take strain off shoulders and to maintain FINAL position.
‌
I invested in my mobility (flexibility + strength) bank so I could take an aerial inversion deposit out later.
‌
As a BONUS, I just maximized my time and efforts by strengthening areas I need for a bunch of other things like ab exercises, pikes, front leg in splits, and scap retraction for a variety of mounts.
‌
Work smarter, not harder.
‌
Most hard skills are only as good as your weak link. Stop struggling and start pinpointing the weak links with appropriate progressions.
‌
Then you can drill it a few times for timing but doesn’t need to be a lot.
‌
Classes start in this week reserve your spot!
