Part of what motivated me to start Truly Fueled Nutrition is that, as a student athlete, absolutely no one talked to me about the importance of nutrition for my sports performance. As a result, I dealt with low energy and unpredictable blood sugar swings during important games which sidelined me far more often than was normal for a healthy kid.

I love working with student athletes to help them learn to fuel their bodies for their unique sport and needs, and I feel strongly that the earlier an athlete can learn to meet their needs consistently, the more they'll get out of their training and sport long past their career as a student athlete.

In most cases, it's the most simple and basic things that will make the biggest difference for young athletes across all sports!

How student athletes can use nutrition to get stronger, faster, and perform their best on and off the field.

This is (professionally, not seasonally..) my favorite time of year! Helping runners dial in their pre-race and race day fueling plans is a lot of fun and hard work, and it's rewarding to see how much better they can feel and perform when they're well-nourished.

It's even more awesome to watch these athletes start to trust their body to do what it needs to do with the food they're eating and let go of all the noise around dieting throughout this process. This year, I've had the privilege of working with runners training for Tokyo, Boston, and a few other awesome races worldwide.

It's not too soon to start working on your fueling for Fall races - I've got a couple 1:1 spots opening up for runners with big goals on their calendar!

A question I get all the time is “how do I change my fueling for days when I have two different workouts?” and then it’s inevitably “how do I fit all this in to my schedule?”

Here’s an example from today - the same concepts from 1-workout days still apply. Make sure to fuel before with mostly easily digestible carbs, fuel after with carbs and protein, and fit all 3 meals in. On days where you’re working out twice, recovery matters. I always recommend a full meal before the AM workout because it’s easy to get very behind if you start with just a small snack instead of breakfast!

Yes, this means you’ll need to wake up even earlier 👀 ⏰
