Strength training is an important part of healthy aging, especially after 40.

During perimenopause and menopause, hormonal changes can contribute to changes in muscle mass and bone density. Resistance training helps support muscle strength, bone health, balance, mobility, and everyday function.

This is not about lifting to look a certain way. It is about building strength for real life.
- Carrying groceries.
- Getting up from the floor.
- Maintaining balance.
- Supporting your bones.
- Moving with confidence.

You do not need to start with heavy weights or an intense workout. Starting where you are and progressing based on your body and abilities matters.

If you are unsure where to begin or need support with movement, pelvic health, or healthy aging, reach out to Symbiotic Wellness.

35 years ago this month, I became a physical therapist.

It wasn't the plan. I wanted to be a doctor — missed admission for medical school by 5 points. I remember how much that stung at the time. My uncle introduced me to this paramedical program, and I graduated in 1991, not fully knowing where it would lead. Then came the opportunity of a lifetime — a job offer to come to the States. I never looked back.

PT became my identity. And 19 years ago, I was almost pushed toward pelvic health therapy — almost by accident. That "push" changed the entire direction of my career. I went on to complete my DPT with a specialization in women's health, and it gave me a lens I didn't know I was missing.

Now, for the last 5 years (after Covid), I've had my own practice — where I get to slow down, spend real time with each person, and treat them as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms.

35 years, a path I couldn’t have planned better or visualized it for myself!!! Grateful for every person who's trusted me with their care along the way. 💜

Hydration doesn't have to be complicated. Instead of counting ounces all day, try pairing a glass of water with each meal. Simple habits are easier to remember and easier to maintain over time. Small routines often create lasting change.

This month's tool is simple. Use your tracking card to set goals that feel realistic for you. You don't have to share it with anyone unless you want to. Healthy habits are personal.

Progress is measured by consistency, not comparison.

Curious what 'all four together' actually looks like in a day? Swipe for one example — movement, hydration, protein, and fiber, woven through breakfast to dinner. Your version doesn't have to look like this — it just has to be yours.

If you focus on one nutrition habit this month, make it protein and fiber together. This combination helps you stay satisfied longer, supports healthy digestion, and promotes more consistent energy throughout the day.

Think simple combinations like:
• Greek yogurt with berries
• Eggs with whole grain toast
• Chicken with vegetables
• Beans and brown rice

Simple meals often work best.

A reminder about movement. Most days matter more than perfect days. If pain, stiffness, or fear of movement keeps you from doing the things you enjoy, it deserves attention. Physical therapy isn't only for recovering from injuries. It also helps improve movement, build confidence, reduce pain, and keep you doing the activities you love.

Learning one habit at a time builds confidence. Practicing them together helps them become part of your routine. This month isn't about adding more to your plate. It's about putting together everything you've already learned.

Small habits, repeated consistently, often make the biggest difference.
