Week two of breastfeeding is when most people quit.

Not because they failed. Because nobody warned them what was coming.

Your milk comes in and suddenly your baby is frustrated at the breast because the flow changed. They hit a growth spurt and want to nurse every 45 minutes. The adrenaline from birth wears off and the emotional weight of it all lands at once.

This is not failure. This is week two. It's one of the hardest parts of early breastfeeding, and it almost always gets better with the right support.

You shouldn't have to figure it out alone.

If you're in it right now, reach out today. I'm only a DM away. 🄰 Maine families, I come to you.

I am so excited to announce the next phase of Livin' the Breast Life! I will have a full office space and storefront. I will sign the lease on 6/15/2026.

In-stock items will lean towards those that can't be purchased in our local stores and are designed for breastfeeding and pregnant families.

Though the retail store will be small at first, I will offer a discount on all items pre-ordered through me rather than through the large box stores.

Stay tuned.

Breastfeeding myths BUSTED -

1. You can’t continue to breastfeed if you get pregnant.
- Breastfeeding during pregnancy does have risks, like potential contractions and lower supply, and this information should be part of informed consent discussions.

2. The latch looks good, so your ni***es just need to toughen up
- The look of the latch on the ni**le is a factor that we review, but it doesn’t tell the whole story.

3. You have to avoid certain foods to make healthier milk
- A healthy diet is important, but not solely for milk production. The body prioritizes vitamins and minerals from the lactating parent to the milk, so continuing prenatal vitamins during lactation is recommended.

4. Babies need to be latched to the breast in order to get the ā€œhind milkā€ and extra fat.
- Hindmilk and foremilk differences in fat content are subtle and not linked to a specific feeding duration. Babies may need varying times at the breast, with some satisfied in 5-10 minutes while others require 15-20 minutes. Monitoring an infant's output, temperament, and weight provides valuable insights.

5. Larger babies need to nurse LESS in order to be smaller
- Listen, someone needs to be on the higher end of the charts. If everyone were in the 50th percentile, well, then no one would be exceptional. Keep following your baby and trusting their instincts for their growth.

If you were told any of these things, you may need updated lactation support.

You will never hear me say "breast is best".

You will never hear me say "fed is best".

You will never see me pushing any one way for feeding your baby.

Informed is best. That's where we come in - we give you the tools to make the best decisions for your family.

If you find yourself seeking more information, or even just to hear that you're doing the best you can, I'm only a DM away!

Nobody tells you how hard the first few weeks of breastfeeding can be!

1. Infant’s nose is closer to the ni**le than the chin
2. Clicking sounds while latched
3. ā€œLipstickā€ shaped ni**le following the nursing session
4. Pain lasting longer than 10-15 seconds of a latching session
Bonus: Feeling anxious before each latch due to the pain

The fix:
1. Pull baby’s butt closer to the parent’s body
2. Deepen the latch using the nose to ni**le and chin-first method
3. Call me. 🄰
