What does Heart Month look like in Greater Bridgeport?

It looks like 59 events bringing care directly into the community, nearly 2,000 residents showing up to prioritize their health, and 8 organizations working side-by-side to make it all happen.

Behind the numbers are real outcomes. Individuals screened, dozens received blood pressure cuffs and hands-on guidance, new health concerns identified, lifesaving skills taught, and stronger connections built across our region. This is what community health in action looks like.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, partnered, and made a difference. The Bridgeport Farmers Market Collaborative (BFMC) is seeking two Program Coordinators to deliver their nutrition benefit programs, welcome customers to farmers markets, collect data, conduct community outreach, and represent BFMC to the Bridgeport community and partners. The Coordinators will process BFMC nutrition benefit programs, help market staff and volunteers with setup and breakdown, collect data, distribute information about BFMC programs, and create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for all visitors and vendors.

Training for both roles will take place in late May/early June, prior to the first market day.

❤️ February is Heart Health Month ❤️

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S., but many cases are preventable. Small daily choices—like staying active, eating heart-healthy foods, managing stress, and knowing your numbers—can make a BIG difference.

At Health Improvement Alliance, we’re committed to supporting healthier hearts and stronger communities.
