What is rTMS?
October is National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month. This month, we’re answering practical questions about depression care.
Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) uses magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in brain areas involved in mood. Treatment is noninvasive and does not require anesthesia.
It may be an option for some people with depression. A clinical evaluation helps determine whether it may be appropriate for you and includes a discussion of benefits, risks, and your treatment history. Individual results vary.
Side effects are typically mild and may include headache or scalp discomfort. Ask our Roanoke team how much time to allow for each appointment; timing may vary depending on your treatment plan.
Save this introduction and ask our team about an rTMS evaluation.
