Okay workplaces… we’re coming for you. 🎀

Breast Imaging Matters is scheduling Workplace Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Days throughout the Tulsa area and Eastern Oklahoma.

And we want to make one thing really clear:

You do NOT have to have a wellness budget to bring us in.

Our workplace events are donation-based because we understand that not every organization has funding set aside for employee wellness.

We come to you and provide employees with private, one-on-one breast cancer risk assessments and evidence-based education about screening, genetics, dense breasts, mammograms and their individual risk.

We can talk through the fear.
We can correct misinformation they’ve heard online.
We can talk about advancements in breast imaging and patient comfort.
And we can help employees better understand what screening may be appropriate for them.

💗 Have a wellness budget? Your organization can support the day with a donation.

💗 Don’t have a wellness budget? Still reach out.

💗 Want to support this work? We are also looking for businesses and community partners willing to sponsor a Workplace Wellness Day for an organization that may not have the resources to fund one themselves.

One sponsorship can put breast health education directly into a workplace and in front of employees who may otherwise never have access to these conversations.

Be a cool workplace. 😉 Let us come talk about b***s.

What if 20 minutes at work helped an employee discover a breast cancer risk she never knew she had?

Breast Imaging Matters now offers Workplace Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Days throughout the Tulsa metro and surrounding rural communities.

This is not another presentation or lunch-and-learn. Each employee receives a private, one-on-one appointment with a certified mammography professional to review the history provided, receive an estimated lifetime risk score when applicable, ask questions and better understand what to discuss with their healthcare provider.

We provide accurate, evidence-based information—not fear or misinformation about replacing recommended breast imaging.

Events are supported through charitable contributions from participating employers. Employees are never asked or expected to donate. Extended hours and multi-day scheduling are available for larger organizations.

Ready to offer this meaningful health benefit to your team?

“Do you have Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry?”

I ask this question to every patient as a mammographer.

Almost every time, I get the same response…

“Why are you asking me that?”

It’s a fair question.

At first, it may seem like an odd thing to ask before a mammogram, but it’s actually an important part of understanding your breast cancer risk.

Breast cancer risk isn’t determined by just one factor. During a breast cancer risk assessment, we look at many pieces of your personal and family history to better understand your lifetime risk.

One of those questions is whether you have Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry.

Why?

Because individuals with Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry are more likely to carry inherited BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene variants than the general population. These inherited variants can significantly increase the lifetime risk of breast and ovarian cancer.

That doesn’t mean everyone with Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry carries one of these variants.

But it does make it an important part of your risk assessment and may help identify women who could benefit from genetic counseling, genetic testing, earlier screening, or supplemental breast MRI.

As mammographers, we don’t ask questions just to complete paperwork.

Every question has a purpose.

Sometimes one simple question can make a big difference.

💗 Breast imaging is about so much more than taking pictures—it’s about understanding the whole person.

⬇️ Were you ever asked this question during your mammogram? Did you know why?

💗 Together, We Raised $1,160! 💗

Our hearts are so full after the very first Breast Imaging Matters fundraiser.

Because of your generosity, we raised $1,160 to help expand breast cancer risk assessment, education, and patient navigation for women in our community.

This day was about so much more than fundraising. It was about meeting new faces, sharing our mission, building meaningful partnerships, and reminding women that understanding their breast cancer risk can truly save lives.

A very special thank you to The Perfect Pocket for graciously hosting our event and believing in our mission from the very beginning. Your support, kindness, and hospitality helped make this day possible, and we are incredibly grateful.

Thank you to our amazing raffle sponsors, volunteers, everyone who donated prizes, everyone who purchased raffle tickets, and every person who stopped by to learn more about Breast Imaging Matters. Whether you donated, shared a post, invited a friend, or simply encouraged us, you helped make our first fundraiser a success.

🎉 Raffle winners: We will begin reaching out to all winners by the middle of next week to coordinate pickup of your raffle prizes. Thank you for your patience as we wrap up the event and organize everything.

We are just getting started, and we’re excited for what’s ahead. Together, we’re building a community where more women have access to the education, resources, and guidance they need to better understand their breast health and breast cancer risk.

From the bottom of our hearts…

Thank you for believing in Breast Imaging Matters. 💕🎀

💗 Wait… what?!

Most women have never heard this.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) recommends that all women have a formal breast cancer risk assessment by age 25—with particular emphasis on Black women and women of Ashkenazi Jewish descent, who may be at higher risk for hereditary breast cancer.

Before you panic… 👇

This is NOT a mammogram.

It’s simply a way to better understand your personal risk based on things like:
✨ Family history
✨ Personal medical history
✨ Genetics
✨ Other important risk factors

Why does this matter?

Because some women qualify for:
✔️ Earlier screening
✔️ Breast MRI
✔️ Genetic counseling or testing
✔️ A personalized screening plan

…and many don’t find that out until years later.

Knowledge is power. 💗

Knowing your risk doesn’t mean something is wrong—it means you have the information to make the best decisions for your health.

Tag your sisters, daughters, friends, or anyone who should know this. We all deserve to understand our risk.
