This is what true partnership looks like. 💗

Today Breast Imaging Matters had the opportunity to join Edie Tolbert and The Stonebrook Project for two breast health education events at Tulsa Community College!

And even though Oklahoma gave us POURING rain 🌧️ and attendance was smaller than expected, we showed up. Because if even one woman leaves knowing more about her breast health and personal risk, it matters.

Edie is an incredible speaker and breast health educator who uses her own experience to educate, encourage, and empower others. We love how naturally our work complements one another—combining breast health education with individualized risk assessment, breast imaging guidance, and connections to appropriate next steps.

And this was extra special. 🥹 Edie created a beautiful breast health resource book and included the Breast Imaging Matters risk assessment tool as a resource for women!

We are incredibly grateful to Edie and The Stonebrook Project for believing in BIM, inviting us into these spaces, and continuing to find ways we can impact our community together.

And thank you to Tulsa Community College for welcoming us and making space for these important conversations. 💕

What a special morning at the Susan G. Komen Race! 🩷🎀

Breast Imaging Matters was honored to have a booth in the Survivors Tent, and this day was such a beautiful reminder of who all of this work is really for.

Getting to meet survivors, hear pieces of their stories, see families walking alongside them, and watch friends and loved ones show up as their biggest cheerleaders truly touched my heart.

We got to pass out some fun things — bracelets, pens, chapstick and lots of encouragement — but the conversations and connections were by far my favorite part.

I also loved looking around and seeing so many people and organizations working toward the same goal: supporting people impacted by cancer. Lisa with Lisa Bain Ministries, Edie with The Stonebrook Project who has become such a close partner in this work — Kristen with The Perfect Pocket, Project31, and so many more were there.

It reminded me again why partnerships matter so much. Even when we work in the same space, there is room for all of us. When we link arms, share resources, and help connect people with the support they need, we can make a much bigger difference.

To every survivor I met, every family member walking beside them, and every person who showed up to cheer someone on — thank you for letting us be a small part of such a meaningful day. 🩷

I left with a very full heart and even more grateful for this community.

Such a special night supporting The Stonebrook Project at the Portrait of Hope Gala! 💕

Even better getting to attend with one of my best friends, who also happens to serve on the Breast Imaging Matters board.

The Stonebrook Project does incredible work supporting individuals and families impacted by cancer, and last night they met their fundraising goal! 🎉

So grateful for organizations like this that continue to show up for our community. Congratulations, Stonebrook! 💗

“Breast cancer doesn’t run in my family, so I’m not at risk.”

We need to change this conversation. 💗

Only about 5–10% of breast cancers are hereditary.

Being female and getting older are two of the biggest risk factors for breast cancer. Your individual risk can also be influenced by breast density, previous breast biopsies, reproductive and hormonal history, family history, genetics and more.

And risk doesn’t stop with what’s included in a calculator.

Lifestyle factors matter, too. Alcohol is a known breast cancer risk factor, and it may not be included in the risk model used to calculate your score.

A risk assessment is an incredibly valuable tool—but it’s one piece of a much bigger picture.

At Breast Imaging Matters, we want women to understand that breast cancer risk is about so much more than whether your mom or grandmother had breast cancer.

Know your risk. Know what affects it. Know what questions to ask.

We just launched our first fundraising campaign to help women learn their breast cancer risk early. Breast Imaging Matters provides clinically validated risk assessments and personalized next steps so high‑risk women can access lifesaving guidance before diagnosis.

Okay workplaces… we’re coming for you. 🎀

Breast Imaging Matters is scheduling Workplace Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Days throughout the Tulsa area and Eastern Oklahoma.

And we want to make one thing really clear:

You do NOT have to have a wellness budget to bring us in.

Our workplace events are donation-based because we understand that not every organization has funding set aside for employee wellness.

We come to you and provide employees with private, one-on-one breast cancer risk assessments and evidence-based education about screening, genetics, dense breasts, mammograms and their individual risk.

We can talk through the fear.
We can correct misinformation they’ve heard online.
We can talk about advancements in breast imaging and patient comfort.
And we can help employees better understand what screening may be appropriate for them.

💗 Don’t have a wellness budget? Still reach out.

💗 Want to support this work? We are also looking for businesses and community partners willing to sponsor a Workplace Wellness Day for an organization that may not have the resources to fund one themselves.
