If I could tell you one thing to do today
to give you the most immediate impact,
this would be it! I call it my "shoulder
blades in your back pocket" exercise.
Once you learn it, it's so easy to do
throughout the day - in the grocery
store, in a meeting, watching TV - truly
so versatile and beneficial! Not only
does it help with posture, but it can
have all these secondary benefits that
can improve hand and arm issues you
might be dealing with as well. The back
pocket is referring to squeezing the
shoulder blades back and pushing them
down, like your trying to put them into
your back pockets. So try
"putting your shoulder blades in your
back pockets" and see what benefits can
you can start feeling today. This is for
entertainment purposes only and does
not take the place of a real medicalpocket is referring to squeezing the shoulder blades back and pushing them down, like your trying to put them into your back pockets. So try about

As a mom, an OT, and a certified hand therapist, I get asked all the time, "What toys can I give my child to help them with their handwriting or fine motor issues?" Both professionally and personally, I love these little colorful building pieces! I've seen them at many stores over the years and different price points, but these are just a dollar right now at Target. They can provide open ended play or you can provide a template for them to complete. They can be done in both 2D and 3D models, making them more accessible for a wider range of developmental ranges. There are multiple ways to put them together, so kids are more likely to succeed at whatever skill level they may be at currently. Most importantly, they provide FANTASTIC fine motor strengthening and coordination for a wide range of kids - either with low tone and just working with a few pieces or kids needing more complex interventions and building larger items. I use them as gifts for the handwriting kids I see as clients but I also keep them around for my own kids to play with, because they never get old! Check them out, and for a dollar maybe stock up on a few to keep in your bag or as gifts. What's your favorite fine motor toy for kids?

"No one will ever pay cash for hand therapy." "That will never work." "Are there really that many people willing to have you come to their home?" It's been a wild and crazy journey, but I'm proud to say is TWO years old today! I feel like I've learned so much but also have so much more to learn. Running your own business is not for the faint of heart or lack of spirit, but I'm willing to keep on going. Thank you to EVERYONE that has supported me, clicked on my silly reels, let me put out business cards in your places of work, shared my posts, and even more love to my clients that I love to see every day. You guys are really why I'm here. Here's to at least another two years of making things happen 😎 PS, I've got some exciting news coming down the pipeline so stay tuned!

The follow up video explains putty colors and what to do with them. The hardest putty is not always best for a positive result! Putty still remains one of my favorite and arguably most versatile therapy tools, but it should be used appropriately. Have you ever used therapeutic putty? What color did you use?

07/31/2026

One thing I hear over and over from new clients is that they bought putty online for any number of hand issues. While the initiative is appreciated, did you know that putty colors actually mean something therapeutically? Each color represents a different level of resistance for exercise. More times than not, people buy the black putty (typically the most resistive) thinking they will get better faster, but that's not how it works! Here I show you the fast version of the differences between the black and tan putty. Check out my full video in my profile for more details on why putty color matters and why a therapist can help!

Happy Global Climbing Day! πŸ§— Whether you're tackling your first route or your next summit, healthy hands are essential.

One of the most common climbing injuries is an A2 pulley injury, often called "climber's finger." This video explores the anatomy of the finger pulley system, common mechanisms of injury, clinical presentation and evidence-informed treatment considerations for A2 pulley injuries. We also highlight the role CHTs play in rehabilitation, including splinting, therapeutic exercise and graded return-to-climbing strategies to support safe recovery and injury prevention.
