From one of our Flight Nurses, Shellee Magnuson.

My son, Ryan, is 12 years old and is very interested in getting his pilots license. I reminded him that he has grown up with several pilots so he should reach out. They were very receptive and pilots Aaron Lawrence, Travis Burgard, and Frank Delosso scheduled a meeting to sit down with him. They spent some time answering questions, let him try out the flight simulator, and Dan Brattain even took him for a ride in his helicopter.

Also, we got to visit Flight Guard in Sacramento. They welcomed us and showed the kids all around, making them feel like part of the team. They took the time to show them how they dispatch and track our Cal-Ore crews and made them feel like part of the team.

Rumble Over the Redwoods Airshow in Humboldt County was supported by Cal-Ore Life Flight and Arcata Mad River Ambulance.

Cal-Ore provided the event’s Incident Commander, who oversaw emergency medical operations and coordinated response activities among participating agencies. Two fully staffed Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances were strategically positioned on-site to ensure a rapid response to medical emergencies throughout the event grounds.

In addition to ambulance coverage, a dedicated First Aid Station was staffed, and the Mass Casualty/Communications Unit was deployed to support incident management, strengthen emergency coordination, and maintain interoperability among responding agencies.

Today, we honor the memory of our three amazing crew members and the patient who tragically lost their lives ten years ago. Our Cal-Ore team members, Michelle, Larry, and Deborah had a profound impact on those around them. Through their dedication, compassion, professionalism, and commitment to serving others, they left a lasting impression on colleagues, friends, loved ones, and the countless lives they touched. Their commitment to serving others remains a lasting example of the values we strive to uphold every day.

Their legacy lives on not only in our memories but also in the work we continue to carry forward. It is reflected in the care we provide, the relationships we build, and the unwavering commitment to service, excellence, and compassion that guides our mission. Their example continues to inspire us and reminds us of the importance of supporting one another, especially during times of challenge and loss.

Today, we respectfully remember their lives, reflect on their contributions, and recognize the lasting impact they made on our organization and the communities we serve. As we honor their memory, we reaffirm our commitment to the values they embodied and ensure that their contributions and spirit will never be forgotten.

Cal-Ore Life Flight Ground Ambulance crew members Aubree and Shaylin were the on-duty team assigned to provide medical standby coverage for the Curry County Fair Rodeo event. Their presence helped ensure that participants, spectators, and event staff had immediate access to emergency medical care if needed.

Aubree and Shaylin remained attentive and ready to respond at all times during the Bull Riding Championship, one of the highest-risk events of the rodeo.
Cal-Ore Life Flight is fortunate to have such outstanding professionals representing the organization.
