Winning Wednesday Post!!

At Mercy Home, our greatest strength has always been our people. Staff Appreciation 2026 was an opportunity to celebrate our extraordinary employees whose dedication, compassion, and years of service continue to move our mission forward.

This year, we proudly recognized 36 employees for their service milestones, including remarkable anniversaries spanning 5 to 40 years. From those beginning important chapters in their Mercy Home journey to colleagues who have devoted four decades to our community, each milestone represents countless moments of care, commitment, and meaningful impact.

We extend special recognition to Maureen Boothe and Veronica Pottinger, each celebrating an incredible 40 years of service, along with Phillip Knibbs (35 years), Claudine Philip and Christina Amsterdam-Woody (30 years), Nicola Richards (25 years), and our many team members celebrating 20 years and other significant milestones.

The afternoon was filled with fellowship, laughter, recognition, and gratitude; a small but heartfelt expression of appreciation for the people who make Mercy Home what it is every day.

To all our honorees and the entire Mercy Home family: thank you for the difference you make. Your years of service tell a powerful story of commitment, and your work continues to create a community where everyone can thrive and belong.

30 minutes. One simple commitment. So many benefits.

At Mercy Home, we believe wellness is about more than exercise; it’s about creating opportunities to feel stronger, energized, connected, and empowered.

Regular physical activity can support heart health, help manage weight, improve mood, boost energy, promote better sleep, and most importantly be something we enjoy together!

That’s why we’re encouraging our Mercy Home community to Take the Pledge and join our Walk-It-Out Wednesdays Walking Challenge! Whether it’s a brisk walk, a few extra steps, or simply getting outside and moving, every step counts.

Move more. Feel better. Connect with others.
Commit to 30 minutes and walk your way toward wellness with us.

August is National Wellness Month, a reminder that caring for ourselves helps us show up more fully for the people, relationships, and communities that matter most.

At Mercy Home, we recognize that wellness is about the whole person. From nourishing our bodies through movement, hydration, healthy foods, and rest, to supporting our emotional well-being through mindfulness, self-care, meaningful activities, and social connection, small choices can make a meaningful difference.

Throughout August, we encourage our Mercy Home community to be intentional about making wellness a priority. Take a walk. Drink more water. Get some rest. Connect with someone you care about. Try something new. Most importantly, make time for what helps you feel your best.

Our 31-Day Wellness Challenge offers a simple activity for each day of the month. There is still plenty of August left, join us and take the pledge!

Wellness is not a destination; it is something we practice, one healthy choice at a time.

Transforming lives through the power of purpose and community.

Plant Grow Give, our mission goes far beyond urban agriculture. We empower the individuals we serve by involving them in the complete cycle of food production and community care. Through growing, collecting, packaging, and donating fresh produce to local food banks, our participants aren't just receiving support—they are actively providing it. This vital work fosters a profound sense of belonging and integration, proving that everyone has a valuable role to play in strengthening our local food systems. Today is National Nonprofit Day, and at Mercy Home, we are celebrating the extraordinary people behind our mission.

Across New York, nonprofit organizations and their dedicated professionals are essential to ensuring that people with developmental disabilities have opportunities to live, grow, work, create, connect, and belong.

At Mercy Home, that mission comes to life every day through our incredible staff.
