BONUS PROTECTION: The shingles vaccine has been linked to a 24% lower risk of dementia in older adults over a four-year period.
Brown University researchers analyzed health records of more than 500,000 Medicare recipients aged 66 and older and found those who received at least one dose of Shingrix saw a significant reduction in cognitive decline compared to unvaccinated individuals.
A clinical neurologist says this is the third or fourth study to reach the same conclusion — calling the finding "icing on the cake" atop a growing body of evidence.
