Calling all my c-section Mamas who are hoping to VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean).
There is so much that you can do to work towards a VBAC and not just hope for it.
But first thing first. If your last birth ended in a c-section, there is no shame or blame here! As far as I am concerned, the fact that you birthed through your belly shows just how much of a warrior you are. C-sections are life saving surgeries and you endured major abdominal surgery to give your child life! 👏👏👏 and that is just beautiful!
But if you are thinking that a repeat section is your only option, I am glad you found me. In fact, some data shows that a scheduled repeat section has a 3x higher maternal mortality rate than a VBAC. This is in part why ACOG and the NIH have been pushing to increase VBAC rates for over a decade.
So let’s talk about some research. That study mentioned above showed that women under chiropractic care with a Webster certified doctor had around 11% c-section rate overall. This is much lower than the approximately 24% nationally or 33% locally. And no, not all chiropractors are the same. You want someone who has additional training. And hopefully both Webster and Perintal certification! 🙋🏻♀️
And while I can never promise any kind of specific outcome (nobody can, right?!) I can promise that taking these steps will help to increase your chances of a successful VBAC.
💫Webster certified chiropractic care through pregnancy
💫A truly VBAC friendly doctor (I can help you pick someone locally and know what questions to ask to find the right doctor)
💫Intentional movement daily
💫Having a rockstar doula for birth
💫Preparatory pelvic floor therapy
So what are you waiting for? If you are planning for a VBAC, let me part of the team that gets you there!
