August 18 is World Breast Cancer Research Day.

Today we honor the research that continues to improve breast cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and survivorship. Advances in imaging, genetics, and targeted therapies are giving patients more clarity, more options, and more hope throughout their care journey.

GLIN IPA’s Oncology Support Services, available through referral from your oncologis, provide compassionate, coordinated support during treatment and into survivorship. Our care managers help patients navigate appointments, understand their treatment plan, manage symptoms, and stay connected to resources that support healing and well‑being.

If you have questions about screening, risk, or treatment, contact your provider. Research continues to move care forward, and support is here every step of the way.

💗 Hope. Guidance. Strength.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States, excluding skin cancers. In people younger than 50 years of age, incidence rates have increased by 2.4% per year from 2012 to 2021.

Early screenings can help improve patient outcomes for colorectal cancer.

If you are 45 or older, schedule your screening today. Call 716.800.CARE.

Those under 45 and with a family history should talk to their doctor about screening.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month.

Childhood vaccines protect against serious illnesses like measles, whooping cough, and meningitis, and help keep our community healthy.

If your child is due for a well‑visit or school vaccines, now is the perfect time to schedule.

💙 Prevention today means protection for years to come.

Meet Kalie Zmirak, Quality Support Coordinator with GLIN IPA, whose “why” is rooted in empathy, trust, and the privilege of caring for others.

It takes a special type of person to work in Healthcare. You must be patient, selfless and lead with compassion. When I think of my "why", faces and voices of those I love and care for come to mind. Earning a stranger's trust in their most vulnerable moments is a feeling I cherish. My empathy for others is my why, and that will never change!
“I may not remember your name, but I will always remember the way you cared for me” – a quote from one of Kalie’s patients
