References! They are key components to moving your career forward. If you are medical and considering diversification in your career, strongly consider your references. There are four (4) things I want you to contemplate when considering someone as your reference .

1) Always have a minimum of 3 to 4.
2) Consider if that reference has current hands-on knowledge of your skill set within the past 12-18 months.
3) Is the reference a peer or clinical supervisor? You'll need both!
4) Can the entities you're sending them to get a hold of them quickly?
