Kamie Outdoors I'm Kamie-outdoorswoman, coach, and healing-hearted woman. Coaching women to Rise, Reach & Reconnect.

Kamie Outdoors coaches women to build real strength and confidence through outdoor adventure and athletic challenge-where nature is the training ground. I have been a fitness coach 1996-present, coaching adults to attain fitness/health goals along with athletic goals. I am an avid outdoors woman that enjoys the four seasons of Michigan to their fullest; biking, running, hiking, kayaking, snowshoei

ng and winter biking. I have organized and led numerous outdoor adventures including; backpacking, bike packing, kayak camping, day hikes, bikes, paddles and snowshoe hikes. I have risen up over, and from, my own personal fears, self doubts, unknowns and tragedy. I have reached for new outdoor adventures and have found deep reconnection with nature, and with myself, resulting in gained confidence, gained courage, gained mental strength and emotional healing. That is what propels me forward to reach for this new adventure: Rise Reach Reconnect in Nature.

A little behind editing and finishing this Vlog! Training and life take a lot of my time, and editing takes a little longer to get through. There’s just so much to share and highlight! Training for a 100 mile gravel bike race, along with a (my first ever) trail marathon has a lot of fun content!

Spring training brings its own challenges; Northern Michigan weathe...

I am always on alert for bears in the wild, but not in my front yard! This guy was a little close for comfort😳
They are in breeding season now and more active. Be aware of keeping your bird seed out during this time. Might be best to wait to feed the birds until after this time period is done. I hear bird seed is a much sought after treat.

Some call it a workout, I call it FUN.
There’s something about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone that makes you feel alive. When I push my limits physically, I feel more than alive; I feel empowered, confident, strong and proud.
Some activities take more motivation to push the limits; swimming for me is one. On the bike and running on the trail, that’s where I excel, and push to see what I’m capable of. Some may wonder the secret?
When my mind tries to tell me I “can’t” I refocus. Here’s one way. From today’s time trail bike training.
Goal: push into the suffer zone and don’t let up. See how fast you can make this bike move.
Something I haven’t focused on too much since I retired from Triathlon. It felt so good to go hard and push my limit in this way.
Are you over 60 and have athletic goals? I’d love to hear them! Drop me a comment! 👇🏽
Also, do you just break out in song during a hard training? 🎤

What are my plans for today? 🤔
Actually, today is my peak bike training ride! I am currently training for the Coast to Coast Gravel 100, which takes place on June 27.
After today’s ride, it will be time to taper back🙌🏽
At least on the bike training, marathon training is in full mode!
Today me and my training partner, Doug, will be biking 85 beautiful miles.
Perks I have living so close to the course; support crew. My hubby and granddaughter will be meeting up with us at the halfway point with fresh food, and cold water. Huge thanks to him for being my trusted and loyal support for over 25 years of me doing all this endurance stuff.
Blue skies and warm temps today! I hope whatever your day holds, it’s full of what makes you happy. 😃

Trail running: my portal to complete freedom from all the sh*t I carry around on my mind all day. It’s me, the trail, my breathing and my body in motion. Beautiful motion.

Today’s Bike Training: 26 miles with purpose.
Threshold & Cadence
Maintaining an effort at my anaerobic threshold heart rate zone combined with a set cadence of 100rpm
Today, I held this for the first 10 miles and then dropped my cadence to 90-92 and maintained threshold HR zone.
This workout improves my lactate threshold and endurance by training my body to sustain a high effort for long periods. The 100 RPM enhances a few things; pedal efficiency, cardiovascular fitness, and muscle fatigue resistance.
I complete this type of training once a week. The WPT offers an excellent option for this, for me. And today, my hubby was my training partner! He’s very thankful for his e-bike. 😊

Snippets of May. My training ramped up along with spring! New adventures and new friends; bikepacking camp #1, a new camper, and new trails! Embracing life, family, friends and adventure!

Today my sister and I drove to Grand Rapids to experience the Chihuly Glass Exhibit, at Meijer Gardens. It was a beautiful sunny day, which made the glass sculptures glisten and sparkle. The sculptures were intertwined within various gardens, and forest paths. We thoroughly enjoyed walking, and viewing all the beauty!
Here’s a peak at a few exhibits, and beauty.
