For all our new friends we met at the festival today… I feel it’s necessary I reintroduce Lue Haven. ❤️

Lue Haven started as a smaller mission than what it is today. I originally wanted to build a residential center here in Guernsey County for youth who’ve aged out of foster care. There aren’t enough respite options here for those newly emancipated or still awaiting placement… so these kids have no choice but to move to another city or county and re-adjust to a whole new life hours away from the case workers, family, friends, and other established supports. This can cause behavior regression, depression, trigger PTSD, abandonment, I digress… it’s a slippery slope that encourages the cycle to continue. I wanted to help fix that.

And they need more than just housing.

So… Lue Haven grew into an organization that prioritizes ANYTHING that ANYONE might need in order to improve their quality of life. I didn’t want to only focus on youth. I wanted to find ways to break the barriers that keep anyone stuck in hardship. And I don’t ever want anyone to have to worry about “being able to afford” care. Whatever our services are at any given time… they will ALWAYS be free. And while thats a barrier in itself just trying to operate on no funding, I do my best to find a way to make it happen.

For example, we’re proud to offer FREE virtual therapy services through Post Storm Therapy with Lizzy Bishop, MAEd, LPCC. These are completely free appointments, designed to make mental health support more accessible.

That said… one thing I want to make very clear as I reintroduce Lue Haven: I could never do this alone.

Lue Haven may have started with an idea in my head and a fire in my belly, but the work itself has never belonged to just me. So much of what we’re able to accomplish happens because of the local organizations, businesses, advocates, volunteers, community leaders, and everyday people who are willing to say, “How can I help?” It really does take a village. That’s the whole point.

We may have different organizations, different roles, different programs, and different ways of serving, but so many of us are working toward the same thing: a healthier, safer, more supported community.

We’re all building the same house. Of course we’re going to share tools.

Sometimes Lue Haven has the resource someone needs. Sometimes another organization does. Sometimes I make a phone call, send someone down the street, ask another person for advice, borrow a table, share a resource, connect two people who should know each other, or just say, “Hey, I have an idea. Wanna help me make it happen?”

That collaboration is woven into everything we do.

And I am genuinely so grateful for it. I’m proud that Lue Haven gets to work alongside so many incredible people in our community who care deeply about our neighbors and are willing to put their hands to the work.

There is plenty of room at this table. There is plenty of work to go around. And there is absolutely no reason any of us should have to do it alone.

That’s the village.

And that’s Lue Haven. 🤍 Thank you so much for coming out to Eagle HealthWorks Festival today and spending part of your day with us. 🤟🏽

🚨 TODAY’S THE DAY!!! I am getting ready for our FIRST Nourishment Pop-Up that’s happening at NOON! 🥪🍎💛

And by “getting ready,” I mean I will be spending my entire morning in a committed relationship with peanut butter & jelly 😂 I’ll be packing lunches NONSTOP this morning, and we can absolutely still use community support!

🥪 Have food donations?
Drop them off at 518 Orchard Ave. I’ll be home packing until 11:00AM!

🚗 At 11:00, I’ll start loading everything up and transporting lunches to Cambridge Motel (formerly Deer Creek Motel).

🍎 Lunches will be served beginning at NOON while supplies last!

Our goal today is to simply feed people. No judgment. No weird hoops to jump through. No explanation of why you need a lunch. If food would make today a little easier, come get food. 💛

Transportation barrier? Please reach out! Delivery options are available for those who cannot get to the motel.

This is our very first pop-up, so today is also our trial run. We’re learning what works, what our community needs, and how we can make the next one even better.

It takes a village, and apparently it also takes an alarming amount of bread. 🫠🥪

See you at NOON!

📍 Cambridge Motel, formerly Deer Creek Motel
🕛 12:00 PM until supplies run out
🚗 Delivery available for transportation barriers
🥫 Donations accepted at 518 Orchard Ave. until 11:00 AM

LET’S FEED SOME PEOPLE. 💛

As we continue organizing our first Nourishment Pop-up coming up next week, we’ve been getting questions regarding donations! So I wanted to share what we need and how you can help 🤗

SO. First things first… we need paper bags and ziplock bags!!! Here’s the most affordable options:

WALMART:
✨ 100pk paper bags — $3
✨ 200pk ziplock bags — $7

I will also accept food donations. But I can only accept food donations 1-2 days BEFORE OUR SCHEDULED POP-UP. This is to maintain freshness since we do not have enough space to freeze perishable items. Nourishment packages are assembled within a 24hr window before distribution.

That said… these are food items we will accept for our nourishment packages:

🥪 Bread (1 loaf = 10 sandwiches)
🥜 Peanut butter
🪼 Jelly
🍎 Apples
🍌 Bananas
🍊 Oranges
🤎 Granola bars
🐿️ 40pk variety chips
💧 Cases of water (high need)
🧃 Cases of sports drinks (high need)
🍼 Baby formula
* if you need a nourishment package but have nut allergies or other dietary sensitivities, please reach out—I’m more than happy to accommodate!!

💥 It is our goal to assemble 200 nourishment packages for every pop-up.

💥 During the school year, it is our goal to assemble 200 lunches for students & families EVERY WEEKEND.

So your donations will help us TREMENDOUSLY until we find out if we’ve been approved for grant funding for this program 🤞🏽

‼️ PLEASE ONLY DROP-OFF PERISHABLE FOOD DONATIONS 1-2 DAYS PRIOR TO DISTRIBUTION DAY ‼️ WE DO NOT HAVE STORAGE TO KEEP FOOD FRESH FOR LONGER PERIODS ‼️ IF IT IS NON-PERISHABLE IT CAN BE DONATED ANY TIME ‼️

❤️ STAY TUNED FOR A POP-UP SCHEDULE WHERE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT DAYS YOU CAN DONATE FRESH FOOD. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!

🥪✨ LUE HAVEN’S FIRST NOURISHMENT POP-UP! ✨🥪

We’re taking nourishment directly into the community 💓

📍 Cambridge Motel
📅 Tuesday, August 18th
⏰ 12:00 PM

We’ll be there with 100+ FREE nourishment packages, along with additional non-perishable food items and a limited supply of baby formula available while supplies last.

No application. No income verification. No explaining your situation. If food would make the week a little easier for you or your family, please come see me. That’s enough of a reason.

This is our first pop-up for Lue Haven’s Nourishment Program, and the goal is to meet people where they are. Sometimes access means bringing the resources closer instead of expecting people to find a way to get to them.

Please share this post so it reaches the people who may need it. You never know whose grocery budget is stretched thin or whose pantry is running low…

🥪 Nourishment packages
🥫 Non-perishable food items
🍼 Limited baby formula

Please contact Alyssa to arrange delivery options.

📣 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!!!
I will be packing lunches Monday 8/17 @ 5pm and early Tuesday 8/18 @ 7am. If you’re interested in helping assemble lunches, make deliveries, or help out at Deer Creek Motel, reach out to Alyssa by phone, text, or Facebook message ❤️
