Teaching kids about inclusion doesn't require a big lesson plan—it starts with small conversations and everyday actions.
Teach them that everyone communicates differently. That some people may need extra time, extra support, or a different way of doing things. Teach them that differences aren't something to fear or fix—they're something to understand and respect.
A smile, an invitation to join a game, patience during a conversation, or standing up for someone who is being left out can make a lasting impact.
When we raise children who value inclusion, we help create communities where everyone belongs.
Because belonging matters. 💙💛💚❤️

SADI is a proud community partner of the Blue Envelope Program - a way for first responders in Cape Girardeau County to recognize individual needs of a driver or passenger of a vehicle or while in the community. These needs may include a medical condition, communication challenge, developmental disability, or other special need. If you or a loved one is in need of supplies for this program, drop by SADI’s office for informational materials, an envelope, and other various items to help keep you safe! ✉️🩵

Back-to-school season is here! 🎒✏️

For many autistic kids, the first day of school can feel less like a fresh start and more like being dropped into a surprise sequel with no trailer. 😅

A few simple tools can make a big difference:

⏰ Practice morning routines
📖 Social stories
🎉 Positive reinforcement
👩‍🏫 Communication with teachers

Remember: success doesn't have to look like a perfect first day. Sometimes success is putting on the shoes, getting on the bus, or making it through the morning.
