caseydmiller While listening to the series SMALL WINS, Jen asks every guest three (3) questions in closing. The one that really struck me was “What is something that you've been grateful for this year?"⠀

This year has been so hard for everyone this year. So many new challenges, unknowns, so much pain, disappointments, times of grief and sorrow and anxiety. However, in the midst of it all, we can all find at least one (1) thing that we are grateful for this year. ⠀

One of the things that we are so grateful for this past year is for each of our boys’ new schools. Our kids (like most in CA) started virtually (C 8/24 and M 8/17). Then they went back in person (C 9/30 and M 9/16). We are SO grateful for each of their new schools and to all of the teachers, staff and administrators that have made it possible 🎒📓💕🎉⠀

And as an added bonus, part of our new schooling situation includes lots of time to boogie board and surf at the beach with 🌊🏄‍♂️☀️⠀

Let’s give a shoutout for Halloween! My favorite part of Halloween is the costumes. This is a photo of my favorite Halloween to date. The kids were young enough that we could still choose their costumes. and I were on a Zoom with other parents from Matthew’s class and the question was asked “What is the most interesting thing that you have done during Covid?” Well friends, our most interesting thing was that we moved!

After spending weekends, summers and the Shelter-In-Place in Carmel Valley- we decided that it was time to make it our full time home 🏡 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦🐶🐶🌊☀️ We were sad to leave Menlo Park and our community, but excited for this next chapter in our lives.

Everyone is settling into new schedules, routines and rhythms. The kids (and adults) are loving living so close to the beach 🌊🏄‍♂️
And Bama and Biscuit 🐶🐶 love being beach dogs. And we’re close enough to the Bay Area, that we’ve already had lots of visitors ❤️

As September starts and fall approaches, I have all of the feels 😀⁠

Who loves fall as much as I do? 🙋‍♀️ ⁠

Usually fall means college football 👊 🏈 For those of you that don't know, my husband was the punter and kicker at Stanford in the mid-late 90s so Stanford Football is a huge part of our lives ❤️🏈⁠

When we first met, I knew nothing about football- in fact, I thought kicker/punter was one position 🤦‍♀️ ⁠

Having been together for almost 20 years, I now know that they are two (2) separate positions 😜 ✅ ⁠

One of my favorite parts of fall are the tailgates. This picture was from one we hosted last fall ⬅️⁠

This fall since there will be no tailgates, I created a new Fall Bucket List inspired by my friend ⁠

Thanks for checking in friends.
It’s been a whirlwind of a week for the Miller family 🤪🤦‍♀️😀
Moving, distance learning for one and prepping for distance learning next week for the other, a quick trip to the ER for a stuck popcorn kernel (who knew that was a thing)!🤷‍♀️, fires around us, unpacking and now prepped and ready to evacuate if needed.
Right now we are safe and just in the yellow zone so we are hunkering down. So thank you for checking in and for your thoughts & prayers. We are all fine and so grateful.

After a week at the beach with my crew- 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦my cup is full! A week of rest 😜, reading in the sun📚🌟, long leisurely mornings, walks on the beach, lots of yummy dinners 😋, great conversations and time in the ocean 🌊 is just this tired momma needed.

I am ready to face this upcoming school year refreshed and ready for whatever lies ahead 👏🤪📚👍

Besides alcohol 🍸🍷, coffee is what I get asked about most in regards to the FASTer Way and Intermittent Fasting (IF) ☕ ⁠
"Can you have coffee while practicing IF?” 🤷‍♀️⁠

Guess what? The answer is YES 💯⁠

I learned that even while FASTING you can still have coffee! Can I get an amen! 🙏😂 I⁠

n the FASTer Way, coffee is allowed with some minor modifications:⁠
✅ Black is preferred, but if you need a little something reach for a dairy free alternative like ⁠
almond milk⁠
✅ As long as it has under 50 calories and doesn't have fiber, you are good to go! ⁠

Prior to the FASTer Way, I was a 2️⃣ packets of splenda and half/half in my coffee.⁠
