Happy Father’s Day! I have had the privilege of working with some pretty phenomenal dads over the years. To see the teamwork between mom & dad unfold before my eyes is something so powerful and special. May you all remember how important you are and enjoy your day today!

The last week has been so busy in the best way. I have had 2 postpartum visits, 1 prenatal visit, and a consult, all in the last 7 days. With a few more weeks before I go on-call again.
I am so grateful for this life and my dream prospering. God is SO good! I’m so thankful for my clients and seeing how God is working in their lives. To see growing, thriving families flourishing is the greatest reward. 💟

Meet the Doula 👋🏼
✨Hello! Glad to meet you! My name is Angela. I am a c-section & VBAC mama of 3 kids. I love Jesus and my family with my whole entire heart. This privilege of supporting other mamas during their journey to motherhood, whether it’s your 1st or 5th time having a baby, is a calling God gave me years ago and I value it extremely highly.

✨I emphasize building a relationship of trust and understanding with each of my clients. Having a baby is nothing short of intimate, and I aim to make sure you are as comfortable as can be during it. I still keep in touch with many of my past clients, as this journey almost always turns into a deep friendship that lasts for years to come.

✨Working with me looks like building that relationship, learning what matters most to you, what your fears are, and what support you actually want and need. During your pregnancy I focus heavily on birth education, and help you build your birth plan so that you go into your labor equipped and confident. During your labor and birth I’m there: focused, present, and ready to support you and your partner in any way as the needs arise.

✨This job is a calling no doubt, and I value every single client family as if you are my own sister and brother. As I stated before, it is the most amazing and beautiful privilege to support families as they bring life into this world, whatever that looks like. I will support clients in the hospital, at home, (birthing center if we had one), unmedicated, medicated, even cesarean when possible.

Hi! I’m your doula and here are my personal experiences with my own children. I have had a scheduled c-section with my mono/di twins. I have formula fed and combo fed with donated breast milk. I also had a hospital VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), had to do SNS (supplemental nursing system), and strictly breastfed a baby who went on to refuse bottles.

All of that to say, I do not judge how you wish to birth and feed your baby. I’ve almost done a mix of it all at one point. I WILL, however, educate and advocate for you to get your wishes - whatever they may be. The root of being a doula means to educate, advocate, and support, and that is what I try my hardest at doing for my clients. Zero judgement here!

When you're expecting again, your older children are watching-and wondering. We've learned that intentional sibling preparation transforms the whole family's birth experience.

It's not complicated: involve them in appointments, teach them what contractions feel like, give them a real role during labor. These concrete practices turn anxiety into excitement and make older siblings active participants in welcoming their new sibling-not bystanders.

We believe healthy families start with everyone feeling included and prepared. That's why sibling education is woven into everything we do at Iris Midwifery.

Expecting with older kids? Let's talk about how to bring them into this journey with confidence. Your free consultation is the perfect place to ask.

I saw a post of another doula talking about this analogy and I loved it so much I had to share.

A doula is kind of like a flight attendant. She’s not the captain; she’s not in charge of flying the plane, but she is who you look to when you’re gauging the situation during turbulence. Is she looking worried? No? Awesome. Is she calm, cool, and collected? Yes? Perfect.

This is especially for the dads, grandmas, or other support people present during the labor. Sometimes the noises of unmedicated labors can be concerning for someone who’s never experienced it before. I’ve been asked “is this normal?” by family members before, and I’m happy to answer!

She’s also the first one to pass out snacks and drinks. Gotta keep you fueled up for the marathon that is labor!

‼️Let’s talk about informed consent‼️

Informed consent is a fundamental process in pregnancy and childbirth that requires providers to give adequate, accurate, and understandable information regarding suggested medical procedures or interventions to help you make an informed decision about what will or will not be done to your body.

During this process your provider explains the risks, benefits, and alternatives of any
proposed medical intervention. This is also your opportunity to inquire further for greater understanding. Informed consent empowers you to make Informed decisions about your choices and ensures that you remain in control of your body throughout the pregnancy and childbirth process.

👉🏼 Informed consent is NOT:

❌ Assumed or implied
❌ Gained through pressure, coercion, manipulation, or fear
❌ Saying nothing
❌ Giving in to feeling powerless

What I personally like to tell my clients is to use their “BRAIN” 🧠

B - What are the benefits?
R - What are the risks?
A - Are there any alternatives?
I - What does my intuition say?
N - What happens next?

Whether you’re planning a home or hospital birth, these are important things for both you and your partner to know!

‼️I have just a few more openings for due dates through the rest of this year. If you’ve been wanting steady, compassionate doula support through pregnancy, birth, and beyond - be sure to reach out soon before I fill up.

🤍 Limited spots, deep care, rooted support.

🤍 If you’ve been thinking about hiring a doula but haven’t yet, here is your nudge.

➡️ Here’s what working with me looks like:
We spend time together before your birth. We build a relationship and trust. We build your birth plan together. I learn what matters to you, what your fears are, what support you actually want and need.

⭐️ I’m there during labor. Not just checking in - present, observing, advocating, supporting, regulating.
⭐️ I’m there after. Because the first few weeks are often when families need the most and get the least.

➡️ If you want one of my last spots, the first step is a free in-person consult. A conversation for us to meet each other and ask questions.
