🐺 If your pharmacy keeps telling you your estrogen patch is on backorder, you’re not imagining it.

Climara. Vivelle-Dot. Dotti. Lyllana. Most major brands are on indefinite backorder — expected to continue through late 2026.

Here’s what’s actually happening:

In November 2025, the FDA removed the black-box warning that had sat on systemic estrogen products since 2003. Prescription estrogen use among women 45-54 has nearly doubled. Manufacturing capacity didn’t double. The shortage is the result.

What you should know:

✦ You have more options than your pharmacy may have time to explain — transdermal gel, transdermal spray, compounded bioidentical cream, oral estradiol (depending on your risk profile)

✦ Don’t silently go off therapy and wait it out — the shortage isn’t expected to fully resolve until late 2026

✦ Talk to a hormone-specialty provider, not just whoever can write the script — the workaround conversations matter more than ever right now
