Did you know that my friend, fellow medical professional, book lover, dragon tamer and I host a podcast together?!

It’s called Between Reps & Remedies, and we’re all about bridging the gap between mental and physical health.

Because health isn’t just about what happens in the gym or at the doctor’s office. It’s about the whole person—mind, body, and everything life throws our way.

Our goal is to bring real conversations, education, personal experiences, and a little humor to the table while helping you navigate your own health and wellness journey.

We release a new episode every month, covering topics that matter to us and, hopefully, to you too!

BUT THIS MONTH IS EXTRA SPECIAL!

We’re officially celebrating ONE YEAR of Between Reps & Remedies!

One whole year of conversations, laughs, learning, and probably a few moments where we wondered what we got ourselves into.

To celebrate, we’re releasing not just our regularly scheduled episode, but a SPECIAL ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY EPISODE too!

Whether you’ve been listening since day one or you’re just discovering us, we’d love for you to join us!

🎙️ You can find Between Reps & Remedies on:
🍎 Apple Podcasts
💚 Spotify
▶️ YouTube
🎧 Amazon Music

And if you’ve already listened, thank you for being part of our first year! We can’t wait to see where year two takes us.

Two medical professionals. Two perspectives. One mission: Making conversations about mental and physical health a little more real, relatable, and accessible.

Let's talk about something that doesn't get enough attention during weight loss: MUSCLE.
When you're losing weight, preserving muscle matters too.
Adequate nutrition, strength training, and an individualized approach can help support your overall health and body composition.
That's why we look beyond the scale at Body+.

This past week has been an absolute whirlwind, but I can finally say it…

🥋 You’re looking at another BLACK BELT in the Perez household. 🖤

The funny thing is, this journey never actually started because I wanted to do karate.

It started because of Asher.

I spent so much time sitting there watching him train, week after week, until one day I thought… Why am I just sitting here? This is a perfectly good hour of my life. I could be out there doing this too.

So I did.

What started as something to do while Asher was training turned into a journey of my own—one that challenged me physically, mentally, and in ways I definitely didn’t expect.

There were hard classes. Frustrating days. Moments where techniques just would NOT click. Days I was tired, sore, busy, or simply didn’t feel like showing up.

But I kept showing up.

And somewhere along the way, it stopped being something I was doing because Asher was there and became something I was doing for me.

And now, with this black belt, I also have a name: Nova.

A nova is a star that suddenly becomes incredibly bright—something that was already there, but bursts into a new level of brilliance and becomes impossible to overlook.

I couldn’t think of a better representation of this journey.

I didn’t start karate thinking I’d become a black belt. I was just a mom sitting on the sidelines watching her son. But somewhere between stepping onto that mat for the first time and standing here now, I discovered another version of myself.

Now I get to stand beside my son knowing that we’ve both earned our black belts. Watching Asher’s journey inspired me to start mine, and getting to share something like this with him has made every class, every bruise, every frustrating moment, and every drop of sweat worth it.

Another black belt in the Perez household. 🥋🖤

Never underestimate what can happen when you stop sitting on the sidelines and decide to step onto the mat.

The biggest transformation I see in my clients isn't just weight loss.

It's the woman who has more energy to play with her kids.
The one who no longer feels guilty for enjoying a meal.
The one who finally sleeps through the night.
The one who walks into a room with confidence.
The one who realizes she doesn't have to "start over" every Monday.

That's because wellness isn't a 30-day challenge.

It's not a number on the scale.
It's not a clothing size.
It's not surviving on salads or spending hours in the gym.

Wellness is the life you build through the choices you make every single day.

Choosing foods that nourish you.
Moving your body because you love it, not because you hate it.
Making sleep a priority.
Protecting your peace.
Giving yourself grace when life gets messy.

Those choices may seem small, but they shape how you feel, how you show up, and how you live.

Don't chase quick fixes. Build a lifestyle you don't need a vacation from.

Because when your habits support your health, wellness stops feeling like something you have to do—and starts becoming who you are.

Tell me...what's one healthy habit that's become part of your lifestyle?

You don't have to be perfect to be healthy—but you do need a foundation.

Think of wellness like building a house. If one pillar is missing, the whole structure becomes a little less stable. The good news? You don't have to master everything overnight.

This month, focus on these five simple pillars:

• Hydrate your body.
• Fuel yourself with foods that nourish and energize you.
• Move in ways that make you feel strong.
• Prioritize sleep and recovery.
• Protect your mental well-being.

Some days you'll check all five boxes. Some days you'll only hit two or three. That's life. Progress isn't about perfection—it's about showing up again tomorrow.

Instead of asking, "Did I do everything right today?" try asking, "What's one thing I did today that supported my health?"

Those small wins add up.

Today's challenge: How many of the five pillars can you check off? Let me know your number in the comments. I want to celebrate the wins right alongside you.

Today is National Relaxation Day!

Rest isn't a reward—it's part of the plan.

Take a deep breath, slow down, and give yourself permission to recharge today. Your mind and body will thank you.

Here's a little secret...

You don't need to overhaul your entire life to become healthier.

The habits that create lasting results usually aren't the flashy ones. They're the small decisions you make over and over again.

Choosing protein with breakfast.
Taking a 10-minute walk after dinner.
Drinking one more glass of water.
Stretching before bed.
Reading a few pages instead of endlessly scrolling.

None of these habits seem life-changing on their own. But stack them together, day after day, and suddenly you've built a lifestyle that supports your goals instead of constantly starting over.

Stop waiting for Monday.
Stop waiting until life "slows down."
Stop trying to be perfect.

Pick one habit. Just one.

Master it. Let it become automatic. Then add another.

Small habits create big results—and those are the results that actually last.

Happy Birthday to me.

This photo on the left was taken on my birthday during one of the hardest seasons of my life.

From the outside, I smiled. I went to work. I showed up. But inside, I was exhausted. I was carrying stress that was weighing me down far more than any number on the scale ever could. I was surrounded by negativity, pouring from an empty cup, and surviving instead of truly living.

The photo on the right? That’s me this year.

Yes, I’ve worked hard in the gym. I’ve learned how to fuel my body instead of punish it. I’ve built healthier habits that I’ll carry for the rest of my life.

But the biggest transformation wasn’t just physical.

I chose peace.

I walked away from environments that no longer served me. I started protecting my energy. I surrounded myself with people who genuinely love me, encourage me, and celebrate me. I learned that my mental health deserved just as much attention as my physical health.

We talk a lot about exercise and nutrition—and they absolutely matter. Strength training, movement, and nourishing your body can add years to your life and life to your years.

But so can managing your stress.

Chronic stress doesn’t just affect your mood. It impacts your hormones, your sleep, your recovery, your heart, your immune system, and yes… even your ability to lose weight.

Sometimes the healthiest decision you’ll ever make isn’t changing your workout.

It’s changing your environment.

It’s setting boundaries.

It’s walking away from what is breaking you, even when it’s terrifying.

The scary choice often becomes the choice that saves you.

This birthday, I’m not just celebrating another year older. I’m celebrating healing. Growth. Peace. Strength. The incredible people who stand beside me. And the woman I fought so hard to become.

Here’s to choosing yourself, even when it’s hard.

Because you deserve a life that helps you thrive—not just survive. ❤️

August is National Wellness Month, and here's your reminder that your health is about so much more than crushing workouts.

Yes, strength training matters. Cardio matters. But so do the choices you make when no one is watching.

Getting enough sleep.
Drinking your water.
Managing stress.
Fueling your body with foods that help you feel your best.
Taking a walk because it feels good—not because you have to "earn" your dinner.

The fitness industry loves to convince you that you need to do more.

More workouts.
More restriction.
More punishment.

I'm here to tell you that lasting results usually come from doing the basics consistently.

This month, I challenge you to stop chasing perfection and start building habits you can actually maintain. Your body doesn't need another "all or nothing" Monday. It needs a little consistency, a little patience, and maybe a little less beating yourself up.

Small habits. Big results.

Now tell me—which part of wellness are you focusing on this month: movement, nutrition, sleep, hydration, or managing stress?
