Ok guys I know it’s been a while since we posted on here but I wanted to update everyone on how things are going. First off Melissa.

Melissa is doing great post surgery. She was out of the hospital in 3 days and even managed to go back to work 2 weeks after surgery!

Nick is doing great as well. He’s having labs drawn 2 times a week and is looking sooooo much better! Recovery has been going great and the doctors say he’s ahead of the game.

We want to thank you ALL for all the love and support through this process. As things transition back to normal we will do our best to keep everyone informed as to how life’s going! Thanks you all again!!!

From Karen:
(Long but a worthwhile read!)
💚
This morning, as I reflect back over the past few days, I want to share with you the gratitude that I feel today. I have never been more thankful for friends, prayer partners, those who have heard the story and are amazed that all this is happening. Friends you have worked SO HARD to help us raise funds, and prayed relentlessly for our family through this! We love you!

I have never been more thankful for those who put their own needs aside and supported us when they needed support themselves. If you called to tell me what to expect next, if you made sure that Izzy was cared for and loved, if you invited us over for a night of peace and comfort prior to surgery....there are just so many of you!

I have never been more thankful for family who loves us. Family who provided a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving meal yesterday on our way home from Chapel Hill and for all of our family near and far who have prayed and offered help in so many ways through this journey. Your love and support mean so much!

I have never been more thankful for doctors and a wonderful hospital in Chapel Hill who have offered support and concern and magnificent care to both Melissa and Nicholas in this amazing journey in life. From Transplant team to Housekeeping staff...thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness!

I have never been more thankful for the many churches who have kept Nick and Melissa on their prayer lists, reached out to us to find out if they could help, and just offered a friendly community shoulder. Church is such an important family!

I have never been more thankful and appreciative for my little family of 6!! Yes, that includes Mimi and Izzy (the dialysis dog). Our love for each other and for God has carried us through this and will continue to do so in the years to come!

And absolutely most of all, I have NEVER been so thankful for a loving GOD, who delivers miracles every day if we choose to accept Him into our hearts and our lives and let Him dwell within us. To GOD be the glory forever and ever...Amen!

The miracle we have prayed for has happened, and I know that you are continuing to pray for our family as the life-long journey continues! If you don't know God, we are always here to help you know why you need Him, too!

Love to all as we begin the beautiful season of Christmas!

Update from momma Karen:

Melissa is doing magnificently. She was discharged yesterday and we have a room provided by amazing friends for the next few nights here on THE HILL.

Nick is taking a little longer, as we knew he would, but is also doing wonderfully. Today has been another very good afternoon. He is eating solid food, walking, has been in a chair watching TV since morning.

Most important of all...THE KIDNEY IS PERFECT! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 His body seems to have accepted it and is now getting used to having a working organ inside. (Mel has kidney pictures if you’re interested!! Heehe!)

We appreciate ALL of you and every prayer being said since this began and before! We’ll keep updating you as progress toward home is made.

Remember, the Lord is GOOD! If you don’t know him, please ask us why we love and trust in him. We’ll be happy to tell you!! 😍

THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
