> ATTN+2: pic is me and the girls at DPR family day 😘 I’ve accepted a full time position with them and I start in 2weeks! I’m so excited for this opportunity at what feels like a 🦄 job. 😁
So, no more pediatric sleep consulting on the docket for me, but I will still provide tactics, techniques, and tips for effective resilience-building and stress management on my main page. I have LOVED the families I’ve worked with over the years, but it’s time for a new chapter ☺️

I want to get back to serving and supporting you.

Even when you “know all the things,” the newborn stage can be uniquely challenging. (Not to say I do know ALL the things by any stretch of the imagination 😝). The last 3 months have been such a special time to practice what I teach while working on giving myself and my partner as much grace as possible along the way. I’ve cried, screamed, laughed, and more.

I’ve needed to stay off social media for awhile. Now I think I can dip my toe back in because I want so badly to be one tiny bit of support or bright light along your pregnancy and or postpartum journey wherever you may be. To help your kiddo or you sleep, to help your brain and nervous system relax and repair, or to suggest some simple healing movements through yoga.

Ask me questions please! I may not always respond promptly, but I will eventually respond and as soon as I can I promise😊

😳 I really can’t believe this was more than 2 months ago already!!

When it comes to playing independently or being away from your side for more than a second, and yes, sometimes it feels like an actual second before she is tugging and pulling or following behind you in tears, your child struggles. The reality is, your “to do” list is growing, self-care feels li...

“Sleep training” and baby wearing are NOT mutually exclusive by the way 😊

New moms love the time spent bonding with their babies, but sometimes, a mama’s just got to get some chores done around the house. Babywearing is a popular way to keep baby calm, and mom hands-free. How babywearing affects your baby later is…

I'm constantly learning!!! :) I had either very little or no idea about the following :

5. Kissing your baby changes your breast milk. Did you know that the undeniable urge to cover your baby in kisses serves a biological purpose? When a mother kisses her baby, she samples the pathogens on baby’s face, which then travel to mom’s lymphatic system. Mom’s body then creates antibodies to fight those pathogens, which baby receives through breast milk. What?! Amazing, right?

6. Men can lactate! Yes, it’s true. Men have the appropriate breast tissue to lactate, but since they do not experience the hormonal changes that come with pregnancy and help produce breast milk, a man would have to spend a great deal of time pumping and using galactagogues in order to make sufficient breast milk. But it has been done.

8. Your breast milk changes during each feed. Children often approach the breast in a furor of thirst, and your breast milk is prepared for that. When your milk begins to let down, you first produce foremilk, which is watery and has more ability to hydrate your baby. After your baby has nursed for a bit and has their thirst quenched, your milk then changes to hindmilk, which is thicker and has higher fat content, meeting baby’s energy needs.

Go beyond the basics of breastfeeding. We’ve compiled a list of 10 facts you may not have known about the practice of breastfeeding. Breastfeeding is increasingly promoted these days, as more and more evidence shows the importance of feeding babies this complete, species-specific food. We know tha...

"Begin with the end in mind"...whether you site Stephen Covey for this advice (it's Habit #2 in ), a wise friend or family member, or just your own intuition, it's SO APPLICABLE to , too! :) In fact, in spite of the tricky - and understandable - relationship many parents have with the term "sleep training," beginning with the end in mind can actually make the sleep-skills-building process (which is what "sleep training" means to me) a much gentler process!

Establishing healthy foundations, within reason and as often as possible, from day 1, often results in very little "training" required later.
1. Safe and optimal sleep environment
2. Following eat, play/wake, sleep cycles
3. Understanding and honoring age-appropriate wake windows
And few other things ;)

I'm about to be back in the camp myself here soon! As able, I'll be posting tips/reminders as I go.

I just wrapped up a personalized sleep plan + one week email follow up package with a family of a newborn (2mos old) in Canada, and am truly so grateful to hear how supported they felt. Progress not perfection, ESPECIALLY in these earliest of days. Gradually establishing healthy, safe, and optimal routines now will pay dividends in the weeks to come. @ Chapel Hill, North Carolina
