The past few years have been a whirlwind of reprioritizing things I used to believe were very important to living well. In so doing, I learned a couple of very basic things. One is that it really doesn’t matter what you do, just do it well in the sense that you give it 100%. Also to do what spirit calls you to do, not what you think you should do. That is…if no one was watching would you still do it and with all of your heart. If you’ve found that then you know you’re on a good path. On that note, First improv show was a blast. Ready for more…

Often times my workouts aren’t the things that grab the most attention. It’s little bits throughout the day used to address structural imbalances and movement patterns that pull me off line continuously. It’s a part time job to keep things moving in a good place but not a big time consumer if I remember to microdose throughout the week rather than try to get it all in one session.

Granted, when I get the opportunity to dive deeper, I will. For example, here working my scolotic pattern and hip hike which gets even worse with hours leaning over tables.

All the focus is on is creating more space actively and passively in the areas that feel pulled tight. Especially in my case being a left lower oblique/QL and right erector/hamstring, that was further exaggerated by a knee injury.

Hanging with crossover to drop left hip - 3-4 sets of 20-30 seconds

Lateral Bench Dips - 1-2 sets of 5

Hip Hikes Standing on Weak Side - 1-2 sets of 5-10

Single Leg Balance over Weak Side - 2-3 sets of 10-30 seconds

Hanging with emphasis on shoulder swing or hip swing - 2-3 sets of 20-30 seconds

Hinging Twists - 1-2 sets of 5-10

Hinges and Folds to Assess

Getting out of pain can sometimes be just as easy as reimagining how you move. Here is a helpful suggestion on just how to play with that.

A new and well done documentary is out now on Amazon for rent about Dr. Rolf. I highly recommend it if you want to learn about to roots of structural integration and what it’s really about…as well as some great history lessons.

“Fascia, the connective tissue supporting the body, was identified by Dr. Ida Rolf over 50 years ago, well before modern imaging tools existed. Her pioneering work revealed fascia’s key role in health and alignment. The fascinating documentary “Ida Rolf - Mother of Fascia” celebrates her life, challenges, and groundbreaking contributions now central to fascia research and therapy.”

I was both joyed and honored to hear of Ellen’s news finishing her trek.

Most people think knee pain is something you have to “manage.”

This client thought the same—until she trained for and hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro… completely pain-free.

Before we worked together, knee discomfort showed up anytime with long hikes, descents, uneven terrain—it always came back.

So we didn’t chase the knee.

We looked at how her body was organizing under load:

• how force moved through her hips
• how her foot contacted the ground
• how she managed descent (where knees usually take the hit)

She trained consistently.
She trusted her body again.
And when it came time for Kilimanjaro, she didn’t have to “push through” anything.

No braces.
No flare-ups.
No pain.

Just movement that held up under real demand.

Pain isn’t always about doing more or trying harder.
Sometimes it’s about changing the way your body carries load.

If you’ve been working around pain instead of resolving it, there may be another way.

DM “HIKE” or book a session to explore what’s possible.

Did you know these pros have openly discussed Rolfing as part of their recovery and performance plan?

Randy Moss
Michelle Kwan
Charles Barkley - The Phoenix Suns even hired a staff Rolfer.
Emmit Smith
Mario Lemieux
Tom Seaver
Ivan Lendl
Edwin Moses
Sarah Will
and even Phil Jackson

Pro teams don’t call it Rolfing.

They call it:

• soft tissue work
• fascial therapy
• manual therapy

But the goal is the same —
restore movement, reduce pain, and get athletes back faster.

These methods are used every day across the NBA, NFL, and MLB.

I see the same patterns in everyday clients:
old injuries, scar tissue, and movement that never fully came back.

When you address the structure — things can change quickly.

If you’ve “tried everything” and still feel stuck…
there may be another layer to look at.
