Check out the vibrant voices of the 3rd annual 8% Summit!

🌟The 8% Summit is a LIVE EVENT for Speech-language pathologists and Audiologists of color to CONNECT, COLLABORATE, and CONTRIBUTE…in a fun engaging way.

Here is the agenda rundown:
Friday welcome mixer. 6-8pm. Opening keynote speaker, networking game, appetizers, and dranks!

Saturday Summit day. 9am-3pm. 3 sessions for 3 professional development hours, including ASHAs Ethics Credit!, vendors, Photo Booth, DJ curated vibes, giveaways, gift bag!

With two facility and school contracts and 2 therapy clients, Kendra is booked and busy.

Speechology communication services officially launched in April 2021 with the goal of providing services to schools and facilities and goal met!

We are not taking new clients to leave space for creating some online courses. We are thinking of creating a course for adults on communication confidence, and clarity with accented English speakers. Tell us if you are interested in that.

When people ask about their kid’s speech, I ask:

Do they have siblings?
How old are all Of them and what order is Kid in the lineup?
Do the other sibs talk for the kid or interpret the kid?

I ask these questions first because it puts their speech language development in perspective for me. I can determine if the kid may be having a) appropriate development, b) delays because of the sibs, or c) delays compared to their sibs.

For example the youngest may talk less or later if they have older siblings who are developing appropriately. This is because the chatty sibs tend to talk for the younger sib robbing them of speech/language practice opportunities.

Suggestion: Teach the talkative that they have to let their sib speak for themselves and help them practice their words and sounds.
