In this video, Dr. Alla Vash-Margita, a specialist in pediatric and adolescent gynecology and co-author of the SWIFT model paper, invites the ISSVD community to the forum “Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus in Children: Consensus and Controversy” at the ISSVD World Congress in Halifax.

The session will explore the **SWIFT diagnostic model**, a clinical framework designed to support recognition of premenarchal vulvar lichen sclerosus.

Pain during s*x is common. Silence around it should not be.

Dyspareunia affects a significant proportion of people across all life stages—yet it remains underrecognized, underdiagnosed, and often misunderstood.

Many individuals delay seeking care due to stigma or the belief that pain is “normal.” Even when they do, they may face misdiagnosis or dismissal.

Sexual pain is not just physical. It impacts mental health, relationships, and quality of life.

Effective care requires a multidisciplinary approach—integrating medical, psychological, and pelvic health expertise.

At ISSVD, we support the global initiative to establish May 7 as Sexual Pain Awareness Day (SPAD).
